This wonderful old trunk is a recent donation to the museum. It was found in an antique store in Edinburg, IN, and was sold as a circus trunk. We aren't aware of a circus company having been in Flora. However, there were a lot of bands, including a community band. We are wondering if this trunk could have stored instruments. It appears to have been made out of an old shipping crate, covered in a fabric, probably oil cloth, and has a little trap door on one end. It was obviously in Flora at some point in the past. Does anyone know anything about this trunk?

Many thanks to all who attended our Vanished Indianapolis program and local history exhibit last night! Author Ed Fujawa was entertaining and very interested in our community. Thanks to the Flora-Monroe Township Public Library for bringing Ed to Flora and providing pizza! Pictured is Keith Flora standing next to Ira Flora's toolbox. Ira was his grandfather and a prolific carpenter and contractor with too many local buildings, houses, and barns to count to his name. Ira was a grandson of John and Sarah Flora, the founders of our town. Keith donated the tool box to the Depot Museum.
