The future of Fate is in the hands of its citizens, and now is the time to make your voices heard!

As firefighters, we see firsthand the challenges that come with our rapidly growing community. We believe Fate deserves leadership that prioritizes public safety, supports responsible growth, values transparency and accountability, and makes decisions with the best interests of ALL citizens in mind.

Our city is growing, and our leadership must be willing to grow with it.

This election is an opportunity to help shape the future of Fate. We encourage every eligible voter to educate themselves on the candidates, understand where they stand on the issues that matter, and most importantly, GET OUT AND VOTE!

Another Busy Month for Your Fate Firefighters!

September 2026 was one of the highest call volume months on record for the Fate Fire Department, with 267 calls for service!

While our firefighters continue to work hard to meet the growing demands of our community, these numbers also highlight an ongoing concern.

⚠️ Of those 267 calls, at least 9 documented incidents went unanswered by a Fate Fire Department unit because our single staffed response unit was already committed to another emergency.

That means 9 times in September, a Fate Fire Department unit was unavailable to respond when someone needed help.

As our city continues to grow, so does the demand for emergency services. These statistics reinforce the importance of ensuring our fire department has the staffing and resources necessary to keep pace with that growth.

Our firefighters remain committed to providing the highest level of service possible with the resources available. However, when emergencies happen simultaneously, having only one staffed response unit creates challenges that directly impact our ability to serve the community.

We appreciate the continued support of our citizens and encourage everyone to stay informed and engaged in discussions surrounding the future of public safety in Fate.

Your safety. Your firefighters. Your community.

Fate Fire Department!

Whether responding to fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, or other calls for assistance, our firefighters remain ready to answer the call when our community needs them most.

Congrats Waxahachie Fire on securing 4-man minimum staffing. That’s a huge accomplishment for the safety of your citizens and firefighters.

FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLIC RELEASE:

The Waxahachie Firefighters Association Local 3010 would like to publicly express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude to City Manager Ricky Boyd, Fire Administration, and the Waxahachie City Council for their leadership, commitment, and efforts that made last night’s historic decision possible.

Last night, the Waxahachie City Council unanimously approved an ordinance establishing four person staffing on all frontline fire apparatus responding to structure fires. This is somewhat like an amendment to the city charter requiring council vote to change it. While several significant decisions were made last night, including the relocation and construction of Station 1 and the approval of the SAFER Grant, which will allow Waxahachie Fire Rescue to hire 15 additional firefighters we believe the four person staffing ordinance deserves special recognition. This decision is historic. It represents a commitment not only to the men and women who answer the call, but to every citizen who may one day need us on the worst day of their lives.

We would especially like to recognize Mayor Billie Wallace, Mayor Pro Tem Travis Smith, Councilmember Tres Atkins, and Councilmember Patrick Souter for their vote in support of this ordinance and for recognizing the importance of putting the right number of firefighters on the scene when seconds matter most. We understand that councilman Chris Wright would have also made that same decision however was unable to attend last nights meeting. Four person staffing is about much more than putting an additional firefighter on a fire engine. It is about having enough firefighters to accomplish multiple life saving and firefighting tasks simultaneously. When a crew arrives at a structure fire, there are critical responsibilities that cannot simply wait for additional resources to arrive. Firefighters may need to locate and rescue occupants, establish water supply, stretch and advance hose lines, search for victims, ventilate the structure, protect exposures, manage the incident, and rapidly respond when conditions change. Four firefighters give us a stronger ability to do those things together, safely and effectively.

For the citizens of Waxahachie, four person staffing means a stronger initial response and greater capability during those critical first minutes of an emergency. For firefighters, it means stronger crew integrity, improved accountability, additional resources during high risk operations, and a greater ability to assist a firefighter who becomes injured, trapped, or otherwise needs immediate help. At the end of the day, this decision is about two things that should never be separated: Protecting the citizens of Waxahachie and protecting the firefighters who are entrusted with protecting them.

The members of Waxahachie Firefighters association local 3010 are incredibly grateful to have leaders who recognize that firefighter safety and public safety are one and the same.

To our City Manager, Fire Administration, Mayor and City Council, Thank you. Thank you for listening to our firefighters.
Thank you for recognizing the importance of this issue.
Thank you for having the courage to make a decision that will positively impact our department and our community for years to come. Most importantly, thank you for making sure our firefighters have a better opportunity to protect the citizens we serve and to return home safely to the people who love us at the end of every tour. Last night was more than the passage of an ordinance. It was an investment in the safety of Waxahachie. It was an investment in the future of Waxahachie Fire-Rescue and it was a commitment to the men and women who stand ready to answer the call.

From our members and their families, thank you for this monumental decision. We are proud to serve Waxahachie, and we are grateful for leaders who are willing to stand with us.

Sincerely your
Waxahachie Firefighters Association Local 3010

Our Fate firefighters responded to 214 calls for service during the month of August, continuing a steady trend in emergency call volume. Month after month, the department has consistently averaged between 210–250 calls for service.

Behind every number is a response—someone needing medical care, a fire or alarm requiring investigation, a vehicle accident, or another emergency where help was needed.

214 calls in August averages nearly 7 responses every day. However, calls don’t arrive on a schedule. There are times when multiple emergencies occur at the same time.

When our available personnel and apparatus are already committed to other emergencies, there are incidents that we are simply not available to respond to. In those situations, our community may have to rely on assistance from neighboring departments until resources become available.

As Fate continues to grow, these monthly numbers help illustrate more than just call volume—they show the consistent demand being placed on the personnel and resources available to serve our community.

The Fate Firefighters Association Local 5613 will continue sharing these statistics to keep our citizens informed about the workload and service demands of their fire department.

Thank you for continuing to support your Fate firefighters and for staying informed about the public safety needs of our growing community.

Today, the names of 288 fallen brothers and sisters from across the United States and Canada were added to the IAFF Fallen Firefighters Memorial Wall in Colorado Springs.

Each year, on the third weekend of September, IAFF members, families, friends, and loved ones gather to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Their names are now forever etched into the memorial, but their service, sacrifice, and legacy will live on far beyond the wall.

We honor the fallen. We remember their sacrifice. We stand with their families.
