DSC NEW MEXICO Supports the Aztec, NM Kindergarten Classes for their Annual Fishing Day

The Dallas Safari Club New Mexico is supporting the Aztec, NM, Kindergarten classes in 2026 for their Annual Fishing Day.

Dallas Safari Club New Mexico has once again purchased and donated over 120 fishing poles for the Annual Aztec, NM Kindergarten classes Fishing Day on May 1, 2026.

DSCNM is proud to announce the partnership and support of this ongoing annual event. This is the 12th year that the Aztec, NM Kindergarten classes will get to learn about fishing and the outdoors. Throughout that time over 1,500 Aztec Kindergarten students have had a day of outdoor activities, went fishing and even went home with their very own fishing pole at the end of the day. The first year there was just over 20 students.

We would like to see this event to continue for years to come and it will with the support of Organizations like Dallas Safari Club New Mexico and all of You who support DSCNM.

Mrs. Heather Cascio and the other Kindergarten teachers have really stepped up and are really keeping this annual, outdoor tradition going for yet another year. Let’s give Mrs. Cascio and the other teachers a big round of applause for keeping this event alive, but they do need some help.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!!

This will be a 1-day event and is on Friday May 1, 2026. Half of the students will fish and experience other activities in the morning and the other half will be there in the afternoon. With that many students and limited number of teachers, anyone that is willing to take their time and help the Kindergarteners experience this awesome event please send Mrs. Cascio an email and let her know you are willing to help and volunteer.

This year a background check will have to be completed but they have made it easier this year. All you have to do is show up! They have streamlined the background check, and it will easily be conducted on the morning of the event.

The more Volunteers there is to help with all the activities, would be an absolute blessing and will absolutely benefit and go a long way in making the fishing day a huge success! Lunch and refreshments will be provided for all Volunteers.

This year’s event will be held and located at:

Aztec Pond at Riverside Park - Aztec,NM

May 1, 2026 – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Last year's fishing day was a huge success with over 130 students attending the fishing day with close to the same number of students expected to attend this year.

The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish will also be there to help educate the students about fishing and the benefits fishing helps within New Mexico.

The teachers have planned several different alternating stations for the students to enjoy and help keep them occupied and also allows for only 25 students to be actually fishing at a time. They will also go on a nature hike, learn how to cast a fishing pole and learn about different animals in nature.

With this many students ALL the Kindergarten teachers are respectfully asking for your help!

To help ensure the Aztec Kindergarten Fishing Day continues for years to come and to also make sure that each student goes home with a fishing pole, Dallas Safari Club New Mexico will take $5 from each donation to our current Trophy New Mexico Bull Elk Hunt giveaway and donate those funds to this awesome event.
