Last week, I completed SOCMSSC. This is a biannual requirement to maintain and refresh my medical credentials.

It’s always great to reconnect with the boys and practice high-speed, low-drag medicine. As the most senior medic in our small group, it was a genuine blessing to both give and receive feedback from these young bucks.

I will always remain a student of the craft. Stay sharp out there fam. 🫡

Chest Rigs for the haters 😘

Yesterday CC and I got to staff a Critical Care truck together.

He was in our first cohort (25-1), our 1st bubba to earn his Intl. Board Of Specialty Cert. with both the FP-C and CCP-C (NERD), and also our 1st to be placed in a Critical Care job! Lots of “FIRSTS” with this young lad.

We had a solid day. Our EMT driver has been a long time supporter and we also had a high speed in Paramedic school ride with us who we are setting up for an AIR ride-along. Just 4 dudes doing and serving our community.

Yesterday, I had a meaningful encounter with a former patient’s brother. He recognized me by my chest rig and came forward to share that I’d flown his brother out in late 2024. He thanked me for what I did that night.

I asked him to tell his brother I’m glad he’s doing better and that I said hi.

These interactions don’t happen often, but when they do, they remind me I do everything I can to give my patients a fighting chance. These moments make me feel “whole.”

It’s always rewarding to collaborate with newer providers and share our expertise.

We recently went over the Zoll 731+ ventilator with a junior Respiratory Therapist, discussing its strengths and limitations.

While we serve as educators, staying open to learning keeps us sharp, we picked up several nuances of the 731 ourselves during the session.

Always thankful for these opportunities.
