Miss last Tuesday’s Rotary meeting? Here’s what you missed.

We welcomed Ryan Jenkins, Economic Development Coordinator for Fairview Heights, who shared exciting details about the upcoming Fairview 250 Celebration.

The family friendly event will take place from 5:00–10:00 p.m. and will feature live music from Big George Jr., activities for all ages, and a spectacular 14 minute drone show. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy the festivities.

Kids can participate in a fun scavenger hunt by finding symbols for their event passport. Completed passports can be turned in for a goodie bag, with some lucky participants winning a 90 minute pass to Sky Zone!

Parking will be available at City Hall, the REC Center, and Grant School.

Miss last Tuesday’s Rotary meeting? Here’s what you missed!

We welcomed Cheryl Brunsmann, Outreach Coordinator with the St. Clair County Public Health Department and a fellow Rotarian from the Belle-Clair Rotary Club.

Cheryl shared information about the many services provided by the Health Department, including WIC services, travel vaccines, Narcan distribution, sharps disposal, food safety inspections, and support for families with infants, including free Pack ’n Plays for eligible parents. She also highlighted community partnerships such as the Teddy Bear Clinic with Belleville Township West students.

It was a great reminder of the important work being done every day to support the health and well-being of our community.

Did you miss this week’s Rotary meeting?

We heard from Mike Nowobilski, who shared details about the upcoming Brews & Bags event hosted by the O’Fallon Sunrise Rotary Club on May 16th. He also spoke about his passion for Malawi, Africa, and the challenges communities there are facing, like rising fertilizer costs and limited fuel access.

Mike highlighted the impact of District 6510 Charities, including support for Malawi’s Children Village orphanage.

At last week’s Rotary meeting, Mayor Mark Kupsky shared highlights from his unforgettable diplomacy trip to Italy, where he had the honor of meeting the Pope. He spoke about touring incredible landmarks including the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Basilica, and U.S. Embassy to the Holy See, along with memorable experiences exploring Venice, Rome, and Pisa.

It truly sounded like the trip of a lifetime.

Last week, we proudly celebrated our February Rotary Students of the Month! These outstanding 8th graders—selected from Holy Trinity, Pontiac Middle School, and Grant Middle School—were recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to community service.

It was a pleasure to welcome their parents, students, and school administrators to our meeting and celebrate the incredible work these young leaders are doing!

We had the pleasure of hearing from Christine Spargur of the 375th Air Mobility Wing at Scott Air Force Base. Christine works in the Public Affairs Office with Community Engagement and shared a helpful update on what’s happening at Scott AFB and how the base continues to connect with and support the surrounding community.

We appreciate the important role Scott Air Force Base plays in our region and thank Christine for taking the time to visit with us.

At this week’s Rotary meeting, we were honored to hear from Tim Gutknecht of the Columbia Rotary Club, who shared insights about the Belize Children’s Project and its impact on improving the lives of children and families in Belize.

We were proud to support this important work with a $1,000 contribution, helping further the project’s mission of care, education, and opportunity. Partnerships like these remind us how Rotary connects communities locally and globally to make a difference.
