Camp Drake Celebrating over 90 years of camping and adventure on the banks of the Salt Fork in the heart of East Central Illinois! We look forward to seeing you at camp!

Camp Robert Drake is a Boy Scout Camp in the heart of the Midwest that serves the units of Prairielands Council and scouts from units across the country. Just a short distance off the Oakwood exit of Interstate 74, Camp Drake is a wilderness gem of Central Illinois featuring great terrain and the beautiful Salt Fork River.

Monday night at our Council Executive Board Meeting at Camp Robert Drake, we presented Lily S., Eagle Scout and member of Troop 2119, with Scouting America's Medal of Merit, one of our highest honors for meritorious service.

In the summer of 2024, Lily was swimming with friends when one of them began struggling in the deep end of a pool. Lily didn't hesitate. Using skills she'd just learned earning her Lifesaving merit badge at summer camp, she swam to her friend, kept her calm, and brought her safely to shallow water — then made sure she was okay before anyone else even realized what had happened.

She didn't tell this story to be praised. She told it to her troop's newest Scouts, to show them why training matters.

That's what Scouting builds: kids who are ready, calm, and capable when it counts most.

Way to go, Lily. We're proud to call you a Scout. 🎖️
