Today was harder than I let anyone know. I really didn’t say much about it, but my heart knew exactly what today was. Six years ago today, October 4, 2020, I lost my daddy, my first superhero, my protector, my teacher, and one of the greatest blessings God ever gave me.
October 4 will always carry so much meaning for our family because it was also my mother and father’s wedding anniversary. So today isn’t just a day that reminds me of what I lost. It reminds me of where so much of my story began. Their love created a family, memories, lessons, strength, and a legacy that still lives on today.
Daddy, there are some things time will never change. I will always be your daughter. I will always carry the things you taught me. I will always remember your strength, your presence, your love, and the way you made me feel protected just by being my daddy.
A father is a daughter’s first example of what strength looks like. He teaches her things without even realizing he is teaching her. He helps shape the woman she becomes. Daddy, so much of who I am carries a piece of you.
Six years later, I still find myself thinking about what you would say. I still remember your words. I still smile at memories that only our family would understand. And there are moments when I realize just how much of you continues to live through all of us.
I thank God that I got to call you Daddy. I thank God for every year, every lesson, every laugh, every memory, and every moment we shared. I thank God that the bond between a daughter and her father is something that time can never erase.
You will forever be my superhero, Daddy. Not because you were perfect, but because you were mine. My father. My protector. My teacher. A part of my foundation. A part of my heart.
Today I choose to celebrate you. I choose to celebrate the love you and Mama shared, the family you built together, and the beautiful memories you left with us.
Six years later, your daughter still loves you just as deeply. I will carry your love, your lessons, and your legacy with me for the rest of my life.
A daughter and her daddy. A bond that remains forever.
I love you, Daddy. Always and forever. ❤️
