D12: Week 5 Philip

Be honest: Do you trust your GPS more than you trust God?

Most of us hate driving without a clear route, and we hate taking steps of faith without seeing exactly how the math is going to work out. This week in Week 5 of D12: Disciples in the Wild, we looked at a disciple who struggled with the exact same thing: Philip.

When Jesus tested Philip by asking how they were going to feed a crowd of thousands, Philip immediately calculated the cost and concluded it was completely impossible. He did the math while Jesus was preparing to do the miracle.
God sent Philip to the desert for one specific person—an Ethiopian official who was struggling to understand scripture. Philip didn't have to carry the weight of saving the man; he just had to show up, run alongside him, and point him to Jesus. And when the assignment was done, Philip quietly moved on when the spotlight moved on.
You don't need to have all the answers, and you don't need a perfect budget before you follow God's prompting. You just need to be willing to run when the Spirit says move.

It is so easy to spend your morning doing things for God without actually spending any time with Jesus. If we aren't careful, we turn our faith into a job and start acting like employees instead of children.

John didn't care about having a title or a "seat of importance"; he just wanted to be close enough to lean on Jesus’ chest. God isn't looking for a list of your accomplishments today. He just wants you to come sit by Him.
