At Wyman, we know that positive relationships with caring adults can have a lasting impact on a young person's sense of belonging, confidence, and well-being. Research and experience show that feeling seen and supported can help teens navigate challenges and thrive.

Share with a friend, family member, young person in your life, or with us about a teacher, mentor, coach, or trusted adult who helped you feel seen growing up. What did they do that made you feel valued, understood, or supported? If you can, reach out and let them know the impact they had. ❤️

As students head back to school, strong school-based programming can make a meaningful difference in how young people learn, connect, and thrive.

Wyman’s Teen Connection Project (TCP) helps teens build supportive peer relationships, strengthen their well-being, and develop important life and leadership skills. Our research shows that TCP is associated with higher academic engagement, highlighting the importance of creating opportunities for connection alongside classroom learning.

When asked about the best part of TCP, one teen said: “Making connections with the people that I see on a daily basis. It’s like going from stranger to acquaintance to an actual friend.”

Back to school is here—and did you know Wyman’s Teen Connection Project (TCP) can be delivered in the classroom? 🤔📚

TCP is a 12-14 week nationally recognized and evidence-based program for 9th through 12th graders that helps teens develop the tools to support their mental well-being.

What does TCP look like during the school day? In partnership with school administrators and teachers, TCP facilitators organize groups that meet once a week during a regular class period. Teens learn to interact, share, and build supportive social connections and a stronger sense of belonging, helping them navigate the transitions and expectations of a new school year.

Locally, Wyman directly delivers TCP to students during the school day at School District of University City, allowing our staff to work alongside educators to support students throughout the school week.

No matter the setting, teens in TCP are:
💛Experiencing improved well-being.
🤗Developing strong relationships with their peers.
📚More engaged and doing better in school.
🌱Building important life, leadership, and coping skills.

Back-to-school success is about more than math, reading, and science. 📚

It’s about finding your people, feeling like you belong, and building the confidence to speak up and lead.

During the 2024–2025 program year, 85% of Wyman teens reported feeling a sense of belonging during their Wyman experience. On average, 86% reported strong levels of life and leadership skills.

These outcomes show why programs like the Teen Outreach Program (TOP) and Teen Connection Program (TCP) matter. Through meaningful connections, social-emotional learning, and opportunities to grow, young people build the skills they need to thrive—in school and beyond. 💙

Back to school is here—and did you know Wyman’s Teen Outreach Program (TOP) can be delivered in the classroom? 🤔📚

TOP is a nine-month nationally recognized, evidence-based youth development program for 6th through 12th graders. It is flexible enough to be implemented in a variety of settings, including in school.

So, what does TOP look like during the school day? In partnership with school administrators and teachers, TOP facilitators lead one club each week during a regular class period, creating space for guided discussions, caring adult support, community service learning, and leadership development.

Locally, Wyman directly delivers TOP to students during the school day at School District of University City and Ferguson-Florissant School District which allows our staff to not only offer weekly TOP club but also work alongside educators to support students throughout the school week.

No matter the setting, teens in TOP are:
🍎Doing better in school.
🌱Learning how to deal with challenges.
💛Giving back to their communities.
