Auction Horses Rescue

Auction Horses Rescue 501c3 non-profit horse rescue—devoted to not only saving lives, but ensuring their longterm safety.

Auction Horses Rescue is a 501c3 organization, based out of Santa Clarita, CA. Founded in January 2012, after attending the first, of what became many, Southern California auctions. Confronted with such a great number of unwanted and discarded horses, a high percentage of which were Thoroughbred ex-racehorses, we started off with the aim of identifying and reuniting these animals with those who mi

ght have once cared for them. Since then, we have built a large audience of horse lovers who watch us daily on Facebook. Through networking, donations, and the expertise of our team, we have been able to continue rescuing, rehabilitation, re-training and re-homing since our founding. Forever homes are our goal, with a small number of sanctuary horses. We have a particular focus on “problem” training horses as well as elderly horses, retired Thoroughbred broodmares in particular. These horses are in particular danger of landing in Mexico or Canada on a slaughter truck. We work with other rescue organizations when possible and have also helped a number of horses from Central and Northern California Auctions, as well as neighboring states, venturing often alone. In addition, we have been involved in consultancy to better protect the horses of our state, and beyond. Auction Horses Rescue supports the continued existence of horse auctions, as without them, a valuable tool for finding and identifying horses would be lost. Without these auctions, many of these horses would go from backyard to feed lot to Mexico-bound slaughter truck, with little hope of rescuers having the chance to intervene and deliver them to safety. Please rescue a horse *before* it enters the slaughter pipeline — only then can you save a life without funding the bad guys, and slaughter itself!

It will cover the $155 of bail & haul remaining, as well as additional feed while we waited for the red mare’s foal be steady enough for transport.

With the birth of the red mare’s newborn, and the sudden loss of the baby that was only weeks old, it’s been a relief yet a heartbreak all rolled into one.

Auction Horses Rescue is a 501(c)3 horse rescue, that is all-volunteer and deeply devoted to the lives we save.
_______________

🚨 URGENT RESCUE NEEDED: RESERVATION MUSTANG MARES & BABIES 🚨

We’ve just been contacted about 3 Reservation Mustang mares & babies who urgently need rescue:

* 1 mare with a 1-week-old foal
* 1 mare with a 1-month-old foal
* 1 mare believed heavily pregnant

Two tiny babies already here, and one possibly arriving soon. These are very young mares and their fragile foals who urgently need safe, experienced homes.

These horses are currently at a private feed lot in Southern California. They are believed young and unhandled, and none have seen a vet. The feed lot states there is no possibility of extending their deadline.

Unfortunately, throughout much of the country, the mass shipment of Reservation Mustangs occurs constantly and year-round, peaking at certain times. Many of these breeders view these horses purely as livestock, a deeply troubling perspective—especially when newborn foals and pregnant mares are involved.

Auction Horses Rescue made it our mission from 2022-2023 to rescue as many Reservation Mustang mares, babies, and stallions as possible. Among our most cherished rescues is Cosette, a tiny orphan we saved at just a few hours old, found collapsed at a crowded feed lot. Now almost four, Cosette is a thriving pony who brings joy to everyone she meets.

These Reservation Mustangs are special souls who are often overlooked for homes never, often simply because they lack a government brand. Born on Reservation land, they are Mustangs all the same.

They need RESCUE.

BAIL REQUIRED:

* $2,000 total if rescuing both mare-foal pairs together ($1,000 per pair)
* $1,250 for one mare-foal pair individually
* $700 for the heavily pregnant mare

Foals will NOT be separated from their mothers.

We desperately wish we could rescue these horses ourselves, but we are not currently set up for gentling unhandled Mustangs. Our rescue—and most rescues we partner with—are full. We’re volunteering our time to network them urgently, in hopes safe placement can be found.

Interested? DM or email us at [email protected] ONLY.

🚫 NO public comments offering homes (these can discourage real placements). Realistic placement offers via DM/email only.

All inquiries will be thoroughly screened. Application here:
https://tinyurl.com/AHRapplication

We have shared all known details here. Please understand we’re unpaid volunteers doing this despite physical disabilities. AHR does not own these horses, and we are not brokers. We are a 501(c)3 rescue: We volunteer our time to help them find safe homes or ethical rescues.

Auction Horses Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit based in Southern California. Donations are tax-deductible.

CAN YOU HELP US FIND HIM?

His name is LEGAL AUTHORITY, and he is one of a batch of stallions that recently and suspiciously originated from Hector Palma’s BG Thoroughbreds.

He has been recently gelded before dumping, and he was under great emotional distress at the auction (where he sold as Hip 3616). However, we do not know who he sold to.

His tattoo is P07666
Year of Birth 2012

He is the FULL brother of Endorsement, who reportedly nearly made it to the Kentucky Derby himself.

They are both by Distorted Humor and out of the A.P. Indy mare Charmed Gift.

PLEASE HELP US FIND HIM SO WE CAN GET HIM SAFE

We are also desperately fundraising to get as many of these abandoned Thoroughbred stallions and ex-stallions from BG safe, the ones we’ve located so far (Fighting Hussar, Capital Asset) and aside from trying to locate Legal Authority, we believe there might be an additional BG ex-stallion at a private SoCal feed lot. (Pending identification)

This on top of the beautiful mare Yana, another unfortunate “BG grad,” who needs help most of all with neglected, pancaked hooves with the consistency of eggshells.

We need to fundraise as much as we possibly can to get these horses on a chartered haul to Kingfisher Farms in Solvang.

Please DONATE to our 501(c)3 Auction Horses Rescue to make sure these dreams of safety come true:

We need to raise $4850 for this group to live in Sanctuary crew at KERRI.

And we are still $667 shy of meeting the 2:1 donation match to get Scullyism safe to Oregon at Rio’s Refuge!

🚨⏰Scullyism Update ⏰🚨
DONATION MATCH AHEAD!

Donors are our heroes and we have a hero giving us a generous offer: a match of each donation that comes in for Scullyism!!!

He still has a place for him at Rio's Refuge if we can raise the full fees to rescue, quarantine, have him seem by the vet and farrier, and then the long trip to Oregon through Bob Hubbard Transportation!

Here's how it works:

All donations will be a 2:1 match, up to a potential 💰2000 bonus. 🥹❤️

This means your 💰5 turns to 💰15.
Your 💰50 turns to 💰150.
Your 💰100 turns to 💰300.
Your 💰500 turns to 💰1500!

Ultimately 💰1000 turns to 💰3000 if we maximize this opportunity, and we are so incredibly thankful.

That said, we have $2560 left to get Scullyism to his refuge in Oregon, and this match could print his one-way ticket to forever safety. We just need your help to get there.

But our donor is not stopping just there. With the potential of this match, we are able to roll over any excess funds to help the next horse in line, by order of urgency! We absolutely MUST meet this match in order to stretch our arms out farther and our safety net wider.

If you've ever thought about helping, now is the time. Thoroughbreds are landing in places they should never be at an alarming rate, as we are seeing week after week. We have the opportunity to intercept them, but we need our village. We have an incredible one, and with a little bit in larger numbers, we will meet this equally incredible match opportunity. It will not just save one, but will stretch to save more. Will you be a part of this wonderful mission? We hope so!

05/03/2026

Hip 3634 - “Fighting Hussar,” 2010 multiple-Black Type stakes placed Thoroughbred — appears to have been recently gelded. Recorded with the CTBA as being pensioned from the notorious dumpers BG Thoroughbreds in 2025, after standing him at stud for 10 years. In his racing career, he ran solely at the major racetracks in California at the time.

Guess who we also ID’d tonight? “Legal Authority,” a 2012 Thoroughbred who ALSO stood at stud at BG Thoroughbreds, after a racing career that included 7 starts at Santa Anita. At least they gelded him, like they seem to have with Fighting Hussar. Legal Authority is the chestnut we posted earlier today that we were trying to ID. He is by Distorted Humor and out an A.P. Indy mare.

But that’s NOTHING in comparison to BG Thoroughbreds dumping of a Graded Stakes Winner, yet to be named publicly, a 19 yo Thoroughbred stallion they pensioned in 2024. And at 19 years old, has turned up at a feed lot, still a stallion, unsound to ride, but a sweet boy. [We have been working behind the scenes with some of his prior connections to come up with a retirement solution, which is why we haven’t posted him yet. But now it’s specifically relevant to BG).

Circa 2023, the powers that be in the California racing world told us BG Thoroughbreds had shut down and they weren’t a worry anymore. By that point we were rescuing everything from very young WEANLINGS to elderly, successful broodmares with horrible horse tripping wounds. Yet it seems nothing has changed.

HOW MANY HORSES DOES BG THOROUGHBREDS HAVE LEFT AND HOW MANY MORE OF THEIR DUMPED HORSES ARE GOING TO MEET A TERRIBLE FATE?

Anyhow. Please help us rescue Fighting Hussar, Legacy Account, and for another day we will keep everyone apprised of plans to get the Graded Stakes Winner safe.

Fighting Hussar—and Legacy Account—sell to the highest bidder TONIGHT Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Mike's Auction, located at 10415 Limonite Ave in Mira Loma, CA. Horses start selling as early as 8pm, and as late as 11pm.

▪️ We do not have any further information about the horses (etc) we post at the auction. Everything we state is an educated guess at best, unless otherwise noted.

⚠️ If you want to bid, you MUST attend in person! We strongly encourage seeing the horse before bidding. We try to avoid stepping into that role, as bringing a new horse home—especially one you’ve never met before, and had very little known about it—is a major commitment.

🔹 If you are an approved AHR adopter or rescue partner, email [email protected] ASAP. Unfortunately, there is no way for our rescue to screen applications same day.
🔹 Want to apply to become an approved adopter or 501c3 rescue for future horses in need? We only approve new applicants on a limited basis. Apply here: https://tinyurl.com/AHRapplication

The application is also valid for adopting one of our rehabilitated, vet checked, and evaluated horses, previously rescued by Auction Horses Rescue!

🚨 Important Reminder:
▪️ We are not brokers and have no affiliation with the auction. We attend to rescue horses when we can, and also network horses to safe homes and ethical rescues. Additionally, we post to preserve a record of the horses that end up at auctions and feed lots in order to aid lost and stolen horse cases, often alerting prior owners to the fact the horse they leased out or retired at a sanctuary, rehomed from the racetrack, donated to a recipient farm, etc., is not safe like they’ve been told…or assumed.
▪️ Horses at the auction are sold “as-is.” No guarantees. Please be realistic about your expectations, financials, and skill level.
▪️ Our 501(c)(3) rescue is 100% volunteer-run—nor are we wealthy people. We donate every personal dollar we have to responsibly rescue and rehabilitate every horse we save, too!

🚨Derby Day AND Mike’s Auction Today🚨

And we already know of THREE tattooed Thoroughbreds going to the auction today.

Unfortunately, we only received rushed photos of the tattoos and horses from the sellers, so this is all any of us have to work off of.

The tattoo photos we have received for each horse will be underneath each horse’s photos as well as under the main post.

EXPERIENCED tattoo readers ONLY. If you’re just learning how to, this isn’t the time or place.

They are scheduled to sell at Mike’s Livestock Auction in Mira Loma, CA TONIGHT, MAY 2, 2026.

Here are the individual descriptions we have received:

1. “Older tattooed mare. Hard to read tattoo. EST age 14 yrs old”

2a. (And 2b.) “17 hands tb gelding. Hard to read tattoo 18 yrs old”

3. Tattoo gelding. 18 yrs old about.”

4. Thoroughbred mare. No info at all, no photos, as of yet.

The first three Thoroughbreds have reportedly been scanned for microchips and did not have them.

We’ll post whatever more we can find and find out once we are at the auction.

Auction Horses Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit horse rescue. We attend the auctions just as any member of the public would; we do not own or sell ANY of the horses at the auctions or feed lots.

Our rescue attends the auctions to save horses (as well as minis/ponies, donkeys, and mules) as we have space and the funding to support. But we don’t stop there. Even when AHR is completely full, we go deep into the trenches and try to network every horse in need we find to GOOD, ETHICAL homes and rescues
Once AHR rescues a horse, it is safe for life.

Thank you to our village of horse lovers who try to make a difference any way they can. Even if you can’t give a horse a home, or donate, just sharing, liking, and commenting on our posts extends our reach to, perhaps, someone who CAN help in the here and now!

Please note Mike’s Auction goes by very quickly. At most there is only a few hours to preview horses before they sell in the auction ring. Once in the auction ring, they typically sell within 30 seconds. If you are new to bidding at the auction, you might have to jump up, wave your arms, and shout your bid so it is recognized.
We are NOT brokers and do not purchase horses at the auction, unless they are being rescue by us, or to someone previously adopted or fostered through us, and been through our extended screening process.

What we post about a horse is ALL we know about a horse. Many horses sell without any information at all. Again, we are all volunteer and do not have time to answer redundant questions.

If you have read all of the above first, then either DM or e-mail [email protected]

UPDATE 5/2: Stephanie is being rescued! 🎉🥳

But there are still several Thoroughbreds in SoCal that desperately need rescue: 6 yo Summer Solstice, the Aga Khan-bred Kadaya (IRE), a new Thoroughbred gelding with no info yet, a stakes-winning, elderly OTTB stallion we’re hoping to find a solution for with his old racing connections, and Scullyism’s fundraiser to Oregon!

The auction in Riverside, CA is also happening later today, and if it’s like the last 4 months, there might be many more Thoroughbreds with only hours to be rescued. 😞

Please keep tuned, especially if you can provide a home or spot at your rescue/sanctuary to rescue another horse. Donations are welcome as well.

We do not only rescue Thoroughbreds, but they typically are the least likely to be rescued once they’re in the slaughter pipeline. We will also be posting any other horses in need this evening, as time permits. We do this entirely as volunteers with physical handicaps, and ask for your grace and help in spreading the word!
____________

🚨URGENT RESCUE + DONATIONS NEEDED TO EXTEND HER TIME‼️🚨

This OTTB mare NEEDS rescue. We are PLEADING for this special lady’s life.

We are told her deadline is Friday, May 1, but we are now seeking donations (below) to help extend her time while we continue working urgently on safe placement.

Please READ THIS FULL POST before inquiring. Serious inquiries only by DM or e-mail: [email protected]

Stephaniesonthetee, as she has been tentatively ID’d, is a 2014 Thoroughbred mare by Majesticperfection and out of Ms. Alimony, by Street Boss.

She comes from a very strong dam line that has produced big money winners on the racetrack and in the breeding shed, and also produced at least one successful eventer! Stephanie herself was likely better suited for the show ring than the racetrack, where she bounced between Golden Gate Fields, Santa Anita, and Sacramento, always somewhere within the final 3 finishers.

You don’t often see this anymore, but she is also linebred to Swaps!!! in the 6th generation. Not only was Swaps a spectacular racehorse in his time, but he was known as a wonderfully kind soul, too.

Fitting, because this mare has a very kind face and eye herself. What we call Good Mare Energy.

A Good Mare is the kind of mare who will love you deeply for life and, before you realize it, become your soulmate.

So why is she here?

She sold through a goat sale, and then ended up at a feed lot over the past few days. Where she has been since her last race in 2018 is a complete unknown.

We have reached out to the person who may be her breeder, but haven’t heard back yet. It is also Derby Week, so reaching anyone in the horse racing industry in Kentucky right now is not easy. We do know he is a big supporter of Thoroughbred aftercare and second careers, but we also need to remind everyone this mare’s ID is not 100% verified yet. We are working very hard to do so.

Finally, we are told she is estimated around 16 hh and appears to move sound.

DONATIONS NEEDED: to help extend her time
BAIL: contact us privately
Current DEADLINE: Friday, May 1
LOCATION: Southern California, at a private feed lot

Interested? Need further information about her?
✨Please DM us✨ or e-mail ✨[email protected]✨ONLY

We are hoping a screened 501(c)3 rescue or private home can give her a chance.

DO NOT post public “I’ll take her” offers or placement questions. DM/e-mail ONLY so real, realistic placements are not derailed.

🙏 If you are moved by Stephanie and want to help extend her networking period at the feed lot, donations are urgently needed for our rescue to buy time while we continue working on her safe placement. 🙏

Please DONATE to our 501(c)3 Auction Horses Rescue:
• Venmo:
• Zelle: [email protected]
• PayPal: paypal.me/AuctionHorses
• Credit card: auctionhorsesrescue.com/donate.html
• Mail: 18034 Ventura Blvd #291, Encino, CA 91316
NOTE: Venmo and Zelle take no fees.

Donations made in response to this post will be used toward extending time and urgent rescue efforts for this mare. If we are unable to use funds for her, donors may request a refund. This is for an EXTENSION only, at this time.

Our small non-profit is unable to rescue her at this time. Rather than leave these sweet souls to silently disappear, we work hard to network these horses we can’t save ourselves to other good rescues and private homes, as best we can.

READ THIS Important Reminder:

▪️ To clarify further: We are not brokers. What we do is help horses find good homes even when our small, all-volunteer horse rescue is full and underfunded. Our screening process is very thorough, with the aim that once horses are declared saved, they really ARE saved—for life. We do not affiliate with or operate like mass bailers, a reckless practice that hurts more horses than it helps.

▪️ In other words: We are here to rescue horses, donkeys, and mules when we can, and also network horses to safe homes and ethical rescues when we can’t.

▪️ When Auction Horses Rescue rescues a horse, that horse is only carefully rehomed after full rehabilitation and with an adoption contract. If ethical rehoming is not possible, they remain with our rescue in sanctuary care. This is very costly, and we are far from wealthy, so donations and sponsorships are always needed. We are also in great need of grant writers.

▪️ We have not been given any further information about the horses, mules, and donkeys we post beyond what is included here. This is firm. We did all of the work we could before posting.

Auction Horses Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 horse rescue based in Southern California. We rescue and rehabilitate horses, donkeys, and mules, but as a small rescue, space and funds are limited. When we can’t save a horse in need ourselves, we volunteer our time to network them to good homes.

🚨 SCULLYISM NEEDS DONATIONS 🚨

We still need to raise $2,726 to get Scullyism to safety.

That means he can be saved. But only if we cover the real cost of getting him from a California feed lot to his safe landing place at Rio's Refuge in Oregon.

Since we first posted last night, we have raised $74. We know this is a difficult time for many people asking you to please help us finish this.

Please donate for Scullyism below:

• Venmo:
• Zelle: [email protected]
• PayPal: paypal.me/AuctionHorses
• Credit card & monthly sponsorships: auctionhorsesrescue.com/donate.html
• Mail: 18034 Ventura Blvd #291, Encino, CA 91316

NOTE: Venmo and Zelle take no fees.

The $2,726 still needed covers:

🔹 his immediate haul from the feed lot to quarantine
🔹 quarantine with longtime volunteer
🔹 basic vetting and paperwork, including the farm call, health certificate, and Coggins
🔹 his long-distance haul from quarantine to Rio’s Refuge in Oregon

This is what has to happen for Scullyism to move from danger to real safety.

AHR has been working behind the scenes with Rio’s Refuge to secure a landing place for him, and we are deeply grateful this path has come together. But before he can get there, we still have to cover the immediate costs of getting him off the feed lot, through quarantine, through the required veterinary paperwork, and onto that final haul north.

Auction Horses Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

If Scullyism’s rescue cannot be completed for any reason, donations may be refunded upon request or reallocated to another urgent horse in need.

If you want, paste the companion FB comment or shorter IG version and I’ll cut it down to match this one.

Say hello to donkey baby #4—Sparky!

Lil Sparky was born on Orthodox Easter, making him the last arrival among the four heavily pregnant Jenny donkeys rescued back in February. He and his mama, Tess, are doing wonderfully at their foster home. He’s the only little boy of the group!

With the tragic passing of baby Sprite, Sprite’s mom Priscilla and fellow rescue Uncle John have taken on nurturing roles, doting lovingly over the now eight-strong donkey herd in their spacious foster area. Strawberry, Shortcake, and their moms Holly and Toodie continue thriving, full of s***k and energy!

Donors made rescuing these pregnant donkeys possible.

But other donkeys still desperately need our help.

Right now, there’s a sweet Jenny donkey we’ve come to call Jackie at the same feed lot these girls came from. She’s laminitic, possibly foundering, and urgently needs intervention.

Auction Horses Rescue CAN save Jackie—but we urgently need to raise $3,430 to do so responsibly.

This will cover her transportation to the veterinary hospital for x-rays and pain management, 6 months of boarding for recovery, and regular hoof trims. Liz, our incredible foster, will generously donate hay and supplements, though additional funds will be required for soft bedding essential to Jackie’s comfort.

Without immediate care, Jackie risks losing her ability to stand and walk, or worse, being sent to slaughter. Neither outcome is acceptable.

Every donkey deserves the chance at a happy, pain-free life. We need an angel donor (or donors) to step up now.

To help Jackie, please donate today:

UPDATE 4/28:
SUMMER SOLSTICE has until FRIDAY, 5/1 to make any concrete decisions for his rescue. He is a BEAUTIFUL horse, nicely trained, north of 16 hh, 6 yo, yet there are no serious rescue or private home offers for him. 😔

There is also now a new Thoroughbred mare, believed to be STEPHANIESONTHETEE, who also only has until FRIDAY, 5/1. She was born in 2014 and raced at Santa Anita, Golden Gate Fields, and Sacramento. She appears to be sound and has a very kind face and eye. Est 16 hh.

KADAYA (IRE) also has no rescue prospects, despite a storied racing career from France to across the US, before becoming a lesson horse…and then dumped.

There is a 19 yo Thoroughbred stallion we are urgently trying to reach his former connections before posting publicly. He needs rescue, he needs retirement, and we pray Old Friends can be that place for him.

SCULLYISM has rescue placement with Rio's Refuge in Oregon, with the aid of RACE Fund, Inc. connecting us together! But it’s going to require serious fundraising to make it happen. We need to raise $3500 for his journey from a SoCal feed lot to a beautiful Refuge in Oregon. With quarantine, vet care, and quality transportation being an intrinsic and essential part of his journey.

🚨URGENT RESCUE NEEDED: 3 TBs 🐎 | 1 DRAFT 🐴 | 1 DONKEY 🫏

There are multiple Thoroughbreds, a Belgian draft, and a club-footed, possibly laminitic donkey that ALL need rescue.

If interested in rescuing any of these souls, for further details please private message us or e-mail [email protected] for further details. Please do not comment home offers. This is because if the home or rescue offer is not realistic, they can discourage good homes and rescues from helping that could get them safe.

Going in order of photos:
❌1. NO LONGER AVAILABLE: Chestnut Thoroughbred gelding, est 4 yo and 16 hh. Video shows he is surprisingly broke to ride, appears to understand neck reining to some degree, and sound. He was gelded on Sunday, and has not been scanned for a microchip. Riding video in comments.

❌2. NO LONGER AVAILABLE: Belgian draft mare, 20+ yo. Has some blue in her left eye, may be vision impaired. Est 17 hh. She was used for farm work (driven) in California at a berry farm, then was retired. A trader sold her to a racetracker a few years ago, when her eyes were clear. Wherever she’s been they’ve been hard on her, and she somehow ended up in Utah and then back to California at an auction this month. She is now on a feed lot. They state she “moves a little off behind, but not badly” but we have not seen what they mean by it. We are thinking she is likely companion sound. Has only been partially scanned. She in particular NEEDS RESCUE. Photo of eye in comments, plus addtl.
UPDATE: Can disappear at any time, without warning. 😞

3. “Summer Solstice” is a 6 yo Thoroughbred gelding (OTTB) by Circumference (IRE), a son of Galileo, and out of a Minister’s Wild Cat x Siberian Summer mare. He raced once at Los Alamitos. He sold through the March auction after coming off of a local guy’s pasture, and in March he sold to two well-off men who make a routine of buying horse at auctions, “play” with them for a month, then bring them right back. He had lost weight by then. We are told he rode “pretty well” at the April auction. Est. “somewhere over 16 hh.” Sweet face.
NOTE: Additional photos in gallery, labeled.

4. “Kadaya (IRE)”, 18 yo Thoroughbred mare (OTTB) that won $84,256 on the racetrack. Her last race was 11 years ago, in a claiming race on the turf at Santa Anita, after a strong series of 5 runs in France before racing in a grade 3 and then Grade 1 Stakes in the US. Bred by His Highness the Aga Khan’s Khan’s Studs S.C, who also bred multiple generations of her damline.
We are told that until this year, she was a lesson horse. Then she, along with a bay Thoroughbred mare, were dumped together. She was reportedly let go because she began bucking at the canter. She is underweight, in poor condition, with very neglected hooves. SHE NEEDS RESCUE, in particular.
NOTE: more photos in gallery and comments.

❌5. FREE TO SCREENED RESCUE: Jenny donkey, club-footed and reportedly has been dealing with laminitis/founder. She can be haltered but does not know how to lead. NEEDS URGENT RESCUE.
NOTE: Video in comments.

6. SCULLYISM is a 12 yo Thoroughbred gelding by Atticus and out of a Smokester mare. He is est 16.3-17 hh and appears to be track broke. He seems to be sound, and honest. Reel here: https://tinyurl.com/Scullyism-rescue

7. Standardbred or Standardbred x mare, reportedly stated by previous owner, said to be 5 yo. She was the skinny black mare that everyone was very upset about, rightfully so. Some blue in her left eye from trauma to it. We found out the mare she was next to was said to be her mother, and a successful Standardbred pacer and ex-racehorse. We did not verify this. The mother is no longer available. 😔 NEEDS RESCUE.

They are at different private feed lots across California.

Contact us by private message and e-mail [email protected] if interested in giving any of these horses (and donkey) a good home. Read the above post for full information. We are doing this entirely as volunteers, and communications are handled by our physically disabled at that!

All inquiries will be screened through our application, and full references must be provided. https://tinyurl.com/AHRapplication

Auction Horses Rescue does not own these horses, we are volunteering our time trying to help them find homes. This despite the fact our rescue is currently full, and the majority of rescues we partner with. We have been contacted and informed these horses are on private feed lots.

Please contact us about adopting a rehabilitated rescue horse, so we can rescue more!

Due to CA’s unique laws—of which we, AHR, played a pivotal role—although slaughter is technically illegal, enforcement is lacking. Sympathetic authorities advise us it’s better to keep saving these animals than to watch silently as they disappear into a horrific underground market. California remains a hotbed of horse abusers with deep pockets—supplying abhorrent practices such as horse tripping, ramming horses with vehicles, and medieval-style torture as so-called “entertainment.” Thoroughbreds, valued for their agility and ability to run, are especially targeted.

Auction Horses Rescue is an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit horse & all animal rescue (as space & care allows), based in Southern California. Donations are tax-deductible.
