Sow Many Blessings is an Illinois Chapter of Crochet for Cancer, a non-profit organization of Christian volunteers making and donating hand crafted items to cancer centers for patients coping with illness and recovery. Items that can be donated:

Crocheted or Knitted Chemo Beanies
Prayer Shawls
Scarves
Lap Blankets
Blankets
Walker/Wheelchair Caddies
Slippers
PICC line covers
Our donators are creative and have come up with wonderful items that are not on this list. Chapter Supplies that can be donated:

Ribbon
Gift cards for chapter supplies (Joann’s, Wal-Mart, Hobby Lobby, Michaels)
Visa gift cards to ship packages at USPS. The facilities that we currently donate to regularly are:

Please note: All items donated will be given freely to people undergoing treatment for cancer and Hospice care. All items and/or gift cards donated to Sow Many Blessings are not tax deductible at this time as Sow Many Blessings does not hold a Federal 501(c)(3) tax exempt status… so please think of this as a donation to help us uplift those fighting this terrible disease."

Just dropped off 22 lap blankets and 16 shawls to Norwood Crossing Senior center for their Sunday Mass. Norwood Crossing is a non-profit senior care community in Chicago's historic Norwood Park neighborhood that has served older adults since 1896.

Hello....from Lorraine

Good morning and happy Tuesday. I have not been around, but I do think about you all and about Sow Many Blessings every day. I have been texting with Trudi and I have seen Betty a couple times when she has come to pick up items that have found their way here and then taken them to Stefanie so I have not disappeared completely. I have seem some of the happenings here on this page and it is fantastic. Stefanie and Trudi are amazing! You all are amazing and so talented!

I thought I would give a little update on me and let you all know that I did not just exit and forget you all. My health has been a challenge which had led me to step down. The headaches have been quite annoying, tenacious and a pain! They are lasting 30 days and more lately. I did see a new neurologist who a friend told me about. This is looking promising yet I am always guarded. We are testing for a pretty interesting and rare condition that can be treated with different levels of success and are considering new options for migraines if that is what we come back to. My heart and other health situations always want to get in on things, so we need to consider that with treatment options.

Tom is looking forward to retiring in the Spring and we will be moving. We aren’t moving to the moon or another planet, so I will still be around online. It would be nice to get the headaches under control before we begin the actual move, but we shall see.

I have not been crocheting much but am still working on my usual no brain needed scrappy c2c blankets. I have, however, been busily knitting for a new grandbaby who is coming in the next couple of weeks. I do try to keep busy and productive.

I just thought I would pop on here and say hello.

We have gotten in some requests for lap blankets, adult beanies, prayer shawls, gloves, walker/wheelchair caddies, and stuffies/toys.

With Fall approaching, my fingers are itchin’ to get stitchin — and I know many of yours are too!
