Now that Christmas is over, I'd like to take the time to do our year-end post. First--if anyone has a contact I could talk to about becoming a 501c3, I'm very interested in this opportunity for our program and those who support it.

Our program served 31 families and 97 children this year!!

A HUGE thank you to Kendra Gillanders Asher, Maureen Esn, Amy Collins, Kayla Peterman, Maddy Winters, Rachelle Kelch and Pam Willis for being willing and available every step of the way this season. It blesses my heart to see this program grow.

We also owe a debt of gratitude to the Jr. Beta students from East Carter Middle School. These kiddos help us collect, store, organize, and haul gifts during our give away week and we couldn't do it without them! The East Carter Elementary School drop-off/pick-up crews also help with gift collecting, and the teachers and office (Mrs. Erin and Principal Kendrick) are gracious enough to coordinate sending out and collecting our adoption forms. Many thanks to all the hands here!!

Thank you to each and every family who adopted children, to those individuals and area businesses who made donations, and to those of you who stepped up to shop and wrap for children covered with donated funds.

I'm working on wrapping up the thank-you cards, so keep an eye out for those here in the new year and we'll see you all again in 2026! 🎄

This happens every year, but I am sucker!

I have TWO girls, one EC Redbird and one future Redbird that need adoption. I am out of time to put anything together myself, so if someone wants to adopt them, or donate and find someone to shop for them, we can still make this happen!

Child - 7 Girl; likes Gabby's Dollhouse, Unicorn Academy, and coloring, and needs bath stuff, socks, and underwear ADOPTED

Child - Almost 2 Girl; likes Ms. Rachel, Cocomelon, toys of any kind and needs socks and hair accessories ADOPTED

Alright, the last group is ready for adoption! I have received donations for 3 of these kiddos, so I am looking for folks to take the 13G and 7G. Thank you!!

13G; Likes books, anything with cats, art stuff, lava lamp...needs hygiene products and socks. ADOPTED

8G; Likes babydolls, fake food, cooking stuff, stuffed animals...needs hygiene products and socks. ADOPTED

We have:

- 3B; likes dinosaurs, cars, blocks...needs socks, hat/gloves, and jacket. ADOPTED

- 9B; likes trains, dinosaurs, and books...needs boots. ADOPTED

- 12G; likes Stitch and crocheting...needs boots and socks. ADOPTED

I have one last family of 7 on my "to call" list if we can get coverage for these last 12 kiddos. At this time I'm not filling any further requests, unless we have the commitment for adoptions or donations.

As a reminder, our program is for school-age children attending East Carter, though I always try and help the future Redbird siblings of current Redbirds. Thanks to our wonderful community for all you do!!!

UPDATE:

We have BOYS coming out our ears right now! Ages 2 to 12, we have 7 boys with interests in hunting, puzzles, Legos, blocks, Playdoh, trains, and dinosaurs. Please let me know if you'd like to adopt or sponsor an area child.

Right now, we have 64 children adopted out, and 72 on our list. We have another ~30 that we've assisted before and are awaiting confirmation that they need help again this year. All have been notified that there are no guarantees that we can get everyone taken care of this year, but they know we try our best every season!!

We are searching for more adoptive families! Our participation numbers on the adoptive side are down this year, while we're slightly up on children in need. Right now, I still need coverage for 52 children, which is 50% of our total requests this year.

We have adjusted our program to ask that buyers supply one outfit (pant/shirt), one 'want' item, one 'need' item, and one toy/book/game if you're able.

If time is not on your side, we happily take donations and can pair your monetary gifts with personal shoppers for your adoptive child. Please reach out and let us know if you'd like to participate.

Wish Lists are headed to your inboxes/emails/phones today! Can I tell you how joyful it makes me to set these matches? Sometimes they just fit perfectly.

For instance, a recent graduate reached out to me to adopt a child from our program, and I was able to pair her with a younger girl who enjoys the same sport she competed in during high school. These little moments remind me that we are just working this program, but God is at the helm.

We're making the lists and checking them twice!

Pairing children with adoptive families is a fun part of this program. All matches will be made by Nov. 21, to ensure you can take advantage of holiday sales!!

It's that time of year again--time to start thinking of the Adopt-A-Child for Christmas program at East Carter!

Give us a shout if you'd like to adopt one or more children this year! We're revamping our wish lists to give better direction on what children want/need, and making the shopping process easier.

The attached sheet will go home with elementary school students this week. We'd like to have adoptive families identified by November 7th, matches made by November 21st, and presents collected December 9-11th.

THANK YOU to those who shared our mid-year ask for help! We were able to shop based on family needs and make a delivery. Also, a special thank you to my husband for shopping with and chauffeuring me--this pregnancy has just exhausted me, and I am only five months in!

I have a multi-family home in our area who is needing some food help/etc. this month for seven kiddos. Transportation is an issue, but I'm happy to organize shopping and delivery if anyone has anything they can pitch it with!
