Elizabethtown Area High School NNDCC Our program mission is to instill in students the values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.

The Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) was established in 1964 for High Schools across the United States. The statute establishing the Navy National Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC) program was enacted in 2008, and the Navy has elected to use this authority to support student citizenship development programs. The NNDCC program is modeled on the NJROTC program except it is primarily fu

nded by host schools. The program is conducted at accredited secondary schools throughout the nation, and taught by instructors who are retired Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard officers and enlisted personnel. The NJROTC/NNDCC accredited curriculum emphasizes citizenship and leadership development, as well as our maritime heritage, the significance of sea power, and naval topics such as the fundamentals of naval operations, seamanship, navigation and meteorology. Classroom instruction is augmented throughout the year by extra-curricular activities of community service, academic, athletic, drill and orienteering competitions, field meets, flights, visits to naval or other activities, marksmanship sports training, and physical fitness training. Electronic classroom equipment and textbooks are provided by the Navy.

EASD has a new Electronic Device Policy for the 2026-2027 school year.

The policy applies to personal electronic devices, including cell phones, smart watches, smart glasses, and similar wearable technology. It is designed to support learning environments where students are fully engaged, connected with their peers and teachers, and able to focus on learning throughout the school day.

Cadets Esposito and Yocum participated in Founding Forward Spirit of America Youth Leadership Conference from July 16-19. Through an inspiring four-day program at the Valley Forge campus, students experience mock congressional debates, participate in a free enterprise challenge, visit historical sites, and engage in interactive educational activities. This immersive experience allows students to develop their critical thinking and leadership skills while understanding their responsibilities as citizens.
