Scout Troop 719

The boys of Troop 719 are continuing to put the outing in scouting! We traveled to Harper’s Ferry in Virginia for whitewater rafting. It was a gorgeous day on the river and the water temperature was perfect for a swim - whether it was getting tossed out of the raft by accident or by choice.

Our scouts were true to the Scout Motto and were prepared! In order to attend, they demonstrated swimming ability by passing the Scouting America swim test before the event and had to wear the appropriate safety gear for the activity. Everyone had a blast and we can’t wait for next month’s adventure- a ropes course and zip lining!

Troop 719 has safely returned from Camp Olmsted at Goshen Scout Reservation. We are bringing home 71 merit badges, 8 Totin' Chips, 6 Firem'n Chits, numerous completed rank requirements, learned about bear safety and an immeasurable amount of memories our troop will treasure for a lifetime. We're sharing a few images of our time at camp (and return trip pit stop at Buc-ee's) and can't hardly wait for the next adventure to begin!

Ahoy, Me Hearties! A fine mornin' to ye from Camp Olmsted at Goshen Scout Reservation! Camp provided us with all the essentials necessary for our mates to have a bite of grub on the calm seas of Lake Merriweather. It’s a pirates breakfast for us! 🦜 🏴‍☠️ 🛶

Congratulations to Troop 719’s newest Eagle Scout!

Tonight’s troop meeting was held at Piney Run Park. The theme was safe aquatics, going over BSA’s Safety Afloat principles, learning the basic parts of a canoe and oar, and practicing proper body positioning while in a boat. It was a gorgeous evening on the lake. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful park (with a kind and friendly staff) in our town!

Troop 719 just returned from at an amazing weekend at Camp Rodney. Our campsite had an awe inspiring view of the Chesapeake Bay. We spent the day learning about rifle safety and gave back to the camp with a service project.
