El Rito Art Association and Arts Festival The El Rito Art Association is a nonprofit, volunteer run organization dedicated to promoting the arts in and around the village of El Rito.

The 2025 Studio Tour and Mercado is September 27-28. The tour features artists who make pottery, stoneware, Spanish Colonial wood furniture, tin work, paintings, hand-forged iron works, retablos & santos, photography, beadwork, and the fiber arts.

The 39th El Rito Arts Festival is now in the books! Thank you to everyone who visited, and to everyone who participated and worked hard to make it a success. A special shout-out to the staff at NMMC, who helped ensure that the Mercado ran smoothly. We’re so grateful for your help!
And of course, a big thanks to Rio Arriba County Lodgers Tax board for helping fund the event.
And now with the fall studio tour in full swing, we’re looking forward to getting out and seeing what other artists have been up to!

El Farolito! Chef Ray Naranjo and Manko! Lazy Buffalo! El Rito Chuckwagon! And don’t forget, Death by Chocolate at the El Rito Library! They all richly deserve exclamation marks.

Visit Stop 2 this weekend on the El Rito campus of NNMC campus to see exciting things going on. There’s a pottery studio and a print shop, both home to continuing education classes and weekly open studios where all are welcome to pursue their own projects. Instructors Janeen Singer, Andrew Furse and Vivian Jean will be there offering demonstrations and activities for all ages. They’ll have their own artwork for sale, too!

At Stop 4 on the El Rito Stdio Tour is Lucia Vinograd, an exhibiting painter, illustrator, graphic designer and award-winning educator. Her paintings and cards celebrate the luminous, fleeting beauty of everyday life.

New to the El Rito studio tour this year is Tauri Lang, an emerging artist whose paintings use botanical symbolism and dreamlike imagery to explore the relationship between the self, the subconscious, and the divine.
Lang will be at Stop 12 on this weekend’s tour.
The El Rito Arts Festival is 10a-5p Saturday and Sunday, September 12-13. There’ll be great art, great food and great music. Don’t miss it!
