The red poppy speaks where words fall short โ€” a silent tribute to the sacrifices made for our freedom by the heroes who served and died for our country in all wars. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน The poppy is a reminder that their courage will never be forgotten. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

After World War I, the American Legion Family brought National Poppy Dayยฎ to the United States by asking Congress to designate the Friday before Memorial Day as National Poppy Day.

The Auxiliary promotes the poppy as a symbol of the sacrifices our military have made, a symbol to open peopleโ€™s hearts and inspire them to donate to help support the future of veterans, servicemembers, and their families. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, on National Poppy Day, wear a red poppy to honor the fallen and support the living. โค๏ธ

- Know the Difference. Honor the Meaning.

Not every patriotic holiday carries the same purpose โ€” and deserves our deepest reverence.

Memorial Day is not a celebration. It is a solemn day of remembrance for the men and women who died in service to our country.

Armed Forces Day honors those currently serving.

Veterans Day honors all who have worn the uniform.

At Taps for Veterans, we believe remembrance should never be rushed, confused, or taken for granted. Those who gave their lives for America deserve more than a passing thought โ€” they deserve our pause, our gratitude, and our promise to never forget.

This Memorial Day, let us remember what the day truly means.

๐ŸŽบ 24 notes. One final promise.
