Last week’s Mercy Creekview Senior Dinner was an extra-special one! ❤️ We welcomed new youth participants who volunteered alongside some of our experienced participants, showing how Outreach Opportunities can turn into chances for youth to practice peer leadership and mentorship. One of the sweetest moments of the dinner came when one of our youth participants shared her talent by singing some of the residents' favorite classic tunes. 🎶

Watching the seniors light up as they listened was a beautiful reminder that sometimes sharing the gift of live music can bring people together and lift the mood even after the dinner ends.

We’re so grateful to all of our volunteers for bringing their time, talents, and joyful spirits to our senior community! 💕

✨YOUTH SPOTLIGHT: David Galicia-Perez✨
South Tahoe High School Hands4Hope Club President

David has become one of the young leaders helping shape Hands4Hope's future in South Lake Tahoe, starting with serving on the South Tahoe Steering Committee as a youth representative. He has participated in Outreach Opportunities, represented the organization at community events and speaking engagements, and will serve as the first President of the South Tahoe High School Hands4Hope Club. Before his senior year even started, David logged more than 70 hours of service. And, he's already discovered that the impact of volunteering extends far beyond those hours.

"What has surprised me the most was how quickly getting involved improved my confidence and broadened my perspective on service. Going into public speaking opportunities and camp I was definitely going out of my comfort zone and was pretty nervous. I expected to just complete tasks and learn basic logistics, but I was amazed at how much hands-on leadership development happened naturally along the way."

🐾 It’s National Dog Day! 🐾

Today, we’re celebrating by giving a big woof woof of thanks to the amazing youth in our Hands4Hope On-Campus Clubs who have turned their love for dogs into meaningful, year-long service!

Each year, Hands4Hope youth choose an area of need, learn about organizations making a difference, and partner with one organization to create a service-learning project. In recent years, some youth have chosen to support wonderful dog-focused organizations, including Foothill Dog Rescue , El Dorado County German Shepherd Rescue , Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Sanctuary, Inc. , and Guide Dogs for the Blind , to name a few!

We’re grateful to these incredible organizations for welcoming our youth, supporting their learning, and, most importantly, for all they do to help dogs (and their people) in need. ❤️🐶

Here’s to the youth who make a difference, one project (and one wagging tail!) at a time!
