Memorial Day feels different when you’ve sat beside people carrying grief they don’t always have words for.

Some came home without the friends they deployed with.
Some still replay the phone calls.
Some still carry birthdays, anniversaries, and empty seats no one else notices anymore.

For many families, Memorial Day is not a celebration.
It’s remembrance.
It’s heartbreak.
It’s learning how to keep living while carrying loss.

Today we honor the men and women who gave everything in service to this country.
Their sacrifice was not abstract.
It cost birthdays, futures, marriages, children growing up without parents, and families forever changed.

At Homefront Horsemanship, we carry deep respect for those sacrifices.
And we believe honoring them means more than one day of remembrance.
It means continuing to show up for the veterans, first responders, and families still carrying the weight of service long after the uniform comes off.

We remember the fallen.
We honor their sacrifice.
And we refuse to let their stories be forgotten.

The past 2 days we had the honor of attending the Tribal Veterans Mental Health Summit hosted by The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to stand alongside veterans, providers, and community leaders who are committed to supporting those who have served.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day was learning more about the importance of cultural traditions, connection, and Indigenous healing practices. Different paths can still lead toward the same goal: helping people feel seen, grounded, and supported.

At Homefront Horsemanship, we believe healing and resilience are built in community—and we’re thankful to continue learning from those who have carried these traditions long before us.

Thank you to for creating space for these conversations and for investing in the wellbeing of veterans and their families.

This morning, the Homefront Horsemanship crew traded boots in the arena for aprons in the kitchen to help serve the Descanso Town Hall Mother’s Day Brunch.

And honestly—that’s what community is about.

Small towns survive because people show up for each other.
Not for recognition.
Not because it’s convenient.
But because taking care of people matters.

We’re proud to raise our families, build this program, and serve our veterans and first responders in a community that still believes in lending a hand and pulling up an extra chair at the table.

To all the moms carrying the weight of home, holding families together, and loving people through hard seasons—
today is for you.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Homefront Horsemanship. 🤍
