Hazel Miller Foundation The Hazel Miller Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation dedicated to the citizens of Edmonds and South Snohomish County, Washington.

Our grants are designed to serve non-profit organizations operating in Edmonds and South Snohomish County. As a young woman, Hazel moved to Seattle where she fell in love and married Morris Miller. Together they owned and operated a very successful business called Seattle Quilt Manufacturing Company, makers of the famous “comfy” sleeping bag, and after many years sold the business, retired, and enjoyed the last 30 years of their lives in Edmonds. They were avid salmon sport fishermen and committed members of the community. Hazel loved Edmonds so much that she wanted to give back to the community that brought her so much joy. When Hazel died in 2009, the Hazel Miller Foundation was created to benefit the people of Edmonds and South Snohomish County.

With its $3,000, Steel Magic Northwest performed 26 free public concerts and school assemblies, reaching approximately 4,000 people. Performers built friendships and camaraderie that became lifelong relationships.

"When we applied for your grant last year, we shared a simple but powerful belief: that every student who wants to play sports deserves the chance to do so, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. Thanks to your generosity, that belief has been transformed into action and into opportunity for Meadowdale students who might otherwise have been left on the sidelines.

On behalf of the Meadowdale High School Sports Booster Club, we are deeply grateful for your $6,000 grant to reestablish our Blue and White Fund. Your support provided the seed money we needed to bring this vital resource back to life after it was wiped out during the pandemic."

YWCA Seattle King Snohomish Child Advocacy Program in South Snohomish County was created to fill the gap in services not available to children and their caregivers who are currently experiencing homelessness or have recently transitioned into housing.

It is one of three such YWCA programs across King and Snohomish Counties aimed at mitigating the trauma experienced by children impacted by homelessness, domestic violence, and/or reunification with a parent who was formerly incarcerated.

The program focuses on strengthening family stability by reducing the impacts of trauma, increasing school engagement and support, and helping break intergenerational cycles of poverty.

In 2026, YWCA is expanding our Child Advocacy Programming to serve more families in South Snohomish County, thanks to the generous support of partners like the Hazel Miller Foundation.

Pathways Homeward Bound Shelter is the home base of their Child Advocacy Programming in Snohomish County.
