Have you driven by 8 Mile and Gratiot lately and wondered why the city is putting up Christmas ribbons before Halloween?! 🤔

Those festive red ribbons are actually for a very important cause - Red Ribbon Week! ❤️🎀

Red Ribbon Week is the nation’s longest-running and largest drug prevention awareness campaign, taking place every year from October 23-31. It began in 1985 in honor of DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, whose tragic death inspired communities to come together and take a stand against substance use. Today, it’s a reminder of the importance of prevention and keeping our communities healthy!

Did you know this disposal box is available 24/7, all year long? Today, we’re giving it a little extra spotlight in honor of National Drug Take Back Day, happening from 10am-2pm!

Help keep our community safe by properly disposing of unused or expired medications!💊 📦

ECAC is beaming with pride to celebrate our Interim Chairperson and Treasurer, Pastor Albert Rush, on receiving the Eastside Community Chamber Eastpointe Citizen of the Year Award! 🏆🍀🏡

Pastor Rush is one of those people who seems to be everywhere in the Eastpointe community- serving through countless community organizations and initiatives, and, of course, his leadership at Immanuel UMC Eastpointe. Even with everything on his plate, he continues to pour his time, energy, and whole heart into making Eastpointe a better place. If you could take a scan of Pastor Rush’s heart, we’re pretty sure “COMMUNITY” would be written right across it. 💚

We are incredibly grateful for all that you do for Eastpointe and for the ECAC family, Pastor Rush. This recognition is so well deserved!

💜 September is National Recovery Month! 💜

Recovery is possible, and every person’s journey looks different.

National Recovery Month is an opportunity to celebrate the strength, resilience, and accomplishments of people in recovery- and to recognize the families, friends, professionals, and communities who support them along the way.

Recovery doesn’t always happen in a straight line. It can take courage to ask for help, take the next step, or start again. Every step forward matters.

This month, let’s work together to:
💜 Reduce the stigma surrounding substance use and recovery
💜 Encourage people to reach out for support
💜 Celebrate recovery and the many paths it can take
💜 Build communities where everyone feels supported and valued

Recovery is real. Hope is real. Support makes a difference.

ECAC has been out making connections, sharing resources, and having lots of fun this past week at the Eastpointe Community Schools Back to School Bash and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Back to School Wellness Fair! 📚🎓

Cole the Coalition Bear made his rounds at our back-to-school events… but somehow missed the Bluey photo op. 😭🐾😂
