Find Salvo

Find Salvo Adoption doesn’t end on “Gotcha Day.”
For many families, that’s when the real battle begins. Salvo steps into the gap.

Trauma, RAD, unsafe behaviors, and overwhelming financial strain can leave families isolated and without help.

Day 5

We hadn't felt hope in a long time.

Then, at a conference for families we heard about a Christian, trauma-informed residential program built for children like our son. A family structure. Real, 24/7 therapeutic care.

For the first time, we saw a path.

But the cost is beyond what we can carry alone. Without it, we may have to face what every adoptive parent fears most: the possibility of not being able to keep our son in our home.

We are asking for help. Not because we gave up — but because we refuse to.

His story isn't finished. And neither is ours.

Day 4

Here's what nobody tells you about loving a child who has experienced deep trauma:

Love alone is not always enough to heal a wounded brain.

Our son is 4 now. And over the last year, his behaviors have intensified in ways we couldn't manage alone. We've watched a little boy — our little boy — struggle with pain he can't yet put into words.

We searched for help. We knocked on every door.

Program after program said no. Too young. Too complex. Too much.

But he is not too much. He is a child who deserves a fighting chance.

Day 3

The call came. A little boy, just one year old.

His parental rights had already been terminated. He needed permanency. He needed someone to choose him — not as a placement, but as a son.

We said yes.

Two hours later, he arrived.

We didn't fully understand then what trauma does to a child's brain. We didn't know the road ahead. But we looked at him and we knew: he was ours.

Salvo Family E :: Day 2

Shortly after we got married, we felt it — a deep pull toward the orphan. The fatherless. The forgotten.

So we walked into our local family services office with nothing but a heart full of hope and a willingness to say yes.

We started with respite care — giving foster families a break. Short stays. Weekend visits.

We had no idea one of those calls would change everything.

Every family has a story. And every story has a first day.

For this family, that first day came two hours after a phone call they never expected.

A 1-year-old boy. Parental rights already terminated. He needed permanency. He needed a family.

Two hours later, he was standing at their door.

They called him theirs.

This week, we're sharing their story — not because it's perfect, but because it's real. Because this family deserves people who know their story, and what it costs to fight for them.

Follow along. This is Salvo Family E. And this is their first day.

I wrote this back in 2024 for Mother's Day. And while much of it still rings true today, I want to acknowledge what is different this year...

I have known about this book for years, but I couldn't bring myself to pick it up. Until a few weeks ago...when I finally ordered a copy.

And all I can say is WOW.

This line really struck me: "No one believes me. No one believes me because my life is like a bad movie with an over-the-top script. I'd be the first to say this could never happen in real life. But it is."

How many of you have been there? 🖐🏼 Or ARE there right now?

Salvo is here to say that we believe you 🩶 and we want to help.

The last few months, I've been connecting with families, stepping into their worlds, and sharing what Salvo does. Every single time I talk to a family walking through RAD (reactive attachment disorder) and share what Salvo's mission is, there's a spark that I see in their eyes. Nothing dramatic, just a flash of hope. They lean in. They exhale and are visibly relieved, even just for a moment, that someone else sees them and they know they're not alone. It's not a magic fix, but it's one small step.

I recently wrote this blog...it's about that spark, that exhale, that little moment of relief. Rinnah. Joy.

It happened at . It happened with the families I met this weekend at at . And it's not going to stop there...
