A volunteer, nonprofit organization connecting people with free trees in East Oak Lane Philadelphia. East Oak Lane, sometimes called an urban forest, is one of the most verdant areas in Philadelphia. The Oak Lane Tree Tenders have for decades worked to plant the next generation of trees for residents across our neighborhood, ensuring we will green for years to come.

Rainy spring days make for great tree planting! This spring the Oak Lane Tree Tenders planted street trees and a yard tree at properties accross East Oak Lane. This to ensure our avenues and yards are as verdant in future decades as they are today. Thanks to for their support of the Tree Tender program and to the volunteers who dug in for another great planting!

Autumn’s colors have been extra-stunning this year and the Oak Lane Tree Tenders have been enjoying the color show. Our latest “Tree Walk” included inspections of trees we recently planted as well as crimson giants which have stood for a century or more. This Saturday AM we plant “street trees” as part of program, ensuring the avenues of Oak Lane are leafy and shaded for decades to come.

Thanks to all the neighbors who came out last Saturday to Oak Lane Day! And congrats to the winners of our raffle prizes, the Grand Prize—courtesy of a lovely maple tree prefect for planting this fall. Hats off to for organizing a fantastic Oak Lane Day, and keeping this tradition alive.

Many thanks to all our great neighbors who supported the Oak Lane Tree Tenders yesterday at our annual spring flower sale. For the 15th year in a row hosted by our members on Oak Lane at 10th, we raised funds and found homes for some lovely flowers. Here’s to the verdant beauty that sets East Oak Lane apart!

Our November 2024 planting added five new street trees to East Oak Lane. It was a lovely fall morning and our volunteers did a great job.
