September is Baby Safety Month®!

Safe Kids North Dakota coalition partners will be joining the Baby Safety Alliance® in sharing important, practical baby safety tips throughout the month.

Did you know that safety begins with choosing and using baby products correctly? In a world of viral hacks and parenting shortcuts, it’s important to remember that not everything you see on social media or online is a safe practice.

Always make sure the products you use are appropriate for your baby’s age, weight, and developmental stage, and follow current safety recommendations and manufacturer instructions.

We have openings in our very popular Smart Sitter babysitting class coming up on September 19th and November 7th. Pick the date that works best for you and get registered at the link below.

This class is intended for students ages 11 - 14 who may be interested in babysitting for a job or those taking care of younger siblings. The class covers lots of helpful information to be safe and responsible in this role and registration includes your handbook, 5.5 hours of training and lunch. If the cost of attending is a financial barrier, call our office at 701.780.1489 and we will assist.

As we head into Labor Day weekend, this seemed like the appropriate time to give a "Safe Kids shoutout". Many of you know Jasmine as our child passenger safety program coordinator and she does a heck of a job with that. She is out and about in the region, educating parents, caregivers, professionals and other certified child passenger safety technicians about motor vehicle safety. She is paid to do that job and yet she is very passionate about it.

But, what I want to "shout out today", is her passion for this community. . . not becuase she is paid to be, but because she loves the city where she lives, the activities here for her family to participate in, and the places that her kids have gone to school.

This project, highlighted on the Schroeder Middle School PTO page, demonstrates this lady's love of giving back and making a difference in this world, not just becuase she is paid to do it, but when she volunteers to do it as well.

Jasmine has spearheaded and put hours and hours of her time into the "butterfly garden restoration" project at Schroder Middle School. Her weekends, afternoons and evenings for the past several months have been spent working on this site. What a gift she is to Grand Forks, to Schroder and to our community. Thanks for being amazing, Jasmine. We are blessed to have you on our team and in our Grand Forks community. Thanks for making it a better place in so many ways.
