Great news for South Carolina!

Robotic surgery isn’t new, but using it for kidney transplantation is still relatively uncommon.

At MUSC, Dr. Dirk van der Windt and the transplant team spent several years building their experience with robotic surgery before launching South Carolina’s first robotic-assisted kidney transplant program earlier this year.

If you know someone who has ever considered being a kidney donor, then please share.

When it comes to living kidney donors, there is no single “typical” donor profile. Successful donors come from a wide range of backgrounds, ages, and experiences.
