Barbara's Story:
Some of you may wonder why I personally care so much about the March of Dimes. You've heard Casey's story, well, mine is much different, but without her story, I wouldn't have one. Our lives have taken us on many separate paths, but they always seem to cross again somewhere along the way. In all the years I have known Casey; I have known that I could call her and ask for anything
whether we’d seen each other 5 minutes or a year ago. When Casey announced she was pregnant with TJ, I was super excited for her and her little growing family. So, imagine my shock when Tommy calls me not only to tell me SHE is a boy, but to also tell me that they were transferring this little precious gift to a different hospital without his mommy. I couldn’t imagine the shock that Casey was feeling, much less the worry and pain as she discovered things were different than she’d planned. As her friend, I felt completely helpless. I didn’t know the right things to say or the right actions to take to help her at that time. But, later down the road, I realized that there was something I could do. Watching TJ grow and defy every doctor’s limitations they had placed on him, I was inspired by his will and his strength. I knew that the March of Dimes was a part of his stay in the hospital. So, why not form a team to March for Babies and raise money for a cause that helps babies like him every day and do so in his honor? So now, every year, I walk proudly for TJ in support of him, the Morgan family, and other families with stories like theirs. And to think that he can now walk along beside us makes every dollar spent and mile walked worthwhile
