October Community Engagement:

The Open Book Project’s Lottery Box of Giving fall funding application deadline is October 30, 2026! If your classroom, school, or group could benefit from resources for a literacy initiative, we encourage you to apply.

October Volunteer Opportunities available for our annual Trick or Read event:
~ Decorate a trunk and participate in the event - dress up and hand out free books and/or candy 👻🎃
~ Donate Halloween or fall-themed books 📚
~ Donate bags of candy 🍬🍭

The Open Book Project is growing, and we need YOU!

There are several ways to get involved:

📖 Volunteer in our Used Bookstore – Help greet customers, organize and shelve books, sort donations, and keep the store welcoming.

🎉 Volunteer at our Events (shown in the above graphic) – We need help with setup, registration, activities, refreshments, cleanup, and all the little things that make our events successful.

You can volunteer once, occasionally, or on a regular basis—whatever works best for your schedule. No special experience is needed. Just bring your time, energy, and love of literacy!

If you’re interested in joining our volunteer team or want more information about a specific event, simply send us a message at [email protected] and let us know where you’d prefer to help.

Every volunteer helps us reach more people and makes a greater impact. We’d love to have you on our team!
