Books have a wonderful way of bringing people together. 📚💙

Some of The Open Book Project board members had the pleasure of meeting Elin Hilderbrand while visiting beautiful Nantucket! What a special experience to connect with an author whose stories have brought the island to life for so many readers.

A little book talk, a little Nantucket charm, and a lot of love for reading made for a memorable moment! 🌊📖✨

📚 A COMMUNITY THAT READS TOGETHER, GROWS TOGETHER! ❤️

At The Open Book Project, we believe a book can open the door to new possibilities and spark a lifelong love of reading.

Since January 2023, our little literacy nonprofit has been working hard to share our mission across Pickens, Anderson, Oconee, and Greenville counties 📖✨

Because of our amazing community of supporters, we’ve been able to:
📚 Award more than $35,000 through our Lottery Box of Giving Program (application deadline is Oct 30 for fall funding)
👩‍🏫 Stock classroom libraries for 73 first-year teachers
🎒 Provide new books for each student in 15 classrooms
📖 Create 3 community book clubs
🏠 Offer the community a discounted used bookstore
❤️ Keep gently loved books circulating throughout our community with our free little library
And the best part? 95% of what we do is powered by volunteers! 🙌

Every donated book.
Every volunteer hour.
Every dollar given.
Every person who shares our mission.
It all adds up to a community where more people have access to resources and the opportunity to discover the joy of reading.

As our First Year Teacher Incentive comes to a close and a new school year begins we are Celebrating Our First-Year Teachers! 📚

This summer, The Open Book Project was honored to support 38 first-year teachers by donating more than 2,000 books to help stock their classroom libraries.

As these incredible educators begin their teaching journeys, we are proud to help create welcoming classrooms filled with stories that inspire a lifelong love of reading.
