Good evening, Mayor, City Council, and staff. For the record, my name is Mary, and I'm here to speak on behalf of the river and the city of Laredo against the desecration and the destruction of our community. I think you know in your heart of hearts that a border wall and the bullies would bring nothing but disaster and destruction upon our people.

A: The federal government doesn't care about brown people. This wall is a monument to hate; it is not needed. We are the F in Save the City and the state of Texas. So somebody, some contractor, is going to make a lot of money, and that's what this is about, because this has been one of the most corrupt administrations ever, and they don't care about our safety. This is a hoax; this is a sham, and our community is at stake. The health, safety, and dignity of our community is at stake.

A: We just saw these robotic teams; we were applauding science and the magnificent things that we can do with science. Well, we need to embrace science, and we need to look at reports, and we need to have studies. We need to take a page from the Trump playbook and sue the federal government—and delay, and sue, sue and delay, and sue. And we need to hire attorneys who have experience suing the government because we need that kind of expertise.

A: Because we cannot stand by with our hands behind our backs not knowing what to do. We have no answers. This is an unusual situation that we find ourselves in. But I know, Mayor, that you have a good heart. I know all of you care about the community. You have a good heart. Fight for us. Fight.
