La Comunidad se Reúne para la Salud del Corazón en "Pláticas de Vida"
EAGLE PASS, TX – 6 de agosto de 2026. Anoche, residentes locales asistieron a Pláticas de Vida, combinando 45 minutos de educación médica sobre la hipertensión y 45 minutos de cocina práctica. Los asistentes aprendieron a cuidar su presión arterial y prepararon una vibrante ensalada de frijol con ingredientes y sabores locales. Community Gathers for Heart Health and Culinary Education at "Pláticas de Vida"

EAGLE PASS, TX – August 6, 2026. Last night, local residents gathered for the August session of Pláticas de Vida, a bilingual community wellness initiative that pairs medical education with culinary arts. The interactive 90-minute workshop opened with 45 minutes dedicated to understanding hypertension, where participants learned practical strategies to manage cardiovascular risk factors and control blood pressure. The second half shifted to a 45-minute hands-on cooking demonstration featuring a vibrant bean salad packed with local ingredients, traditional herbs, and border spices, illustrating how low-sodium meals can remain big on flavor.

The series continues next month with a focus on emotional well-being. The next Pláticas de Vida session will take place on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 6:00 PM, covering the critical topic of Mental Health. Attendance is free, but space is limited. Community members are encouraged to register in advance directly with Clínica Villanueva by calling 830-421-5057 or emailing [email protected].

The Texas buoys moved.

The front curled up like a centipede and the back is waving in the water like the tail of a dog. This was a moderate flood and yet only the center of this chain of buoys was able to stay tethered to the bed of the Rio Grande.
