We are inviting the community to our two events this Memorial Day.. first one is this Saturday, May 23 at Maverick County cemetery at 8 AM and the second one will be at Maverick County Lake for the Memorial Day ceremony on Saturday, May 30 at 11 AM . Hope to see everyone there to honor our fallen heroes.

ATTENTION Maverick County veterans and family!!

Today, at a meeting with the Planning Department, Judge Jasso and the County Auditors chose to STOP the Memorial Wall Project at the lake — a project meant to honor ALL veterans from Eagle Pass and Maverick County.

Their excuse? “Funds could and should be spent elsewhere.”

This is UNACCEPTABLE.

The funds were already allocated.
The company was already hired.
The Purchase Orders were already approved.

Yet they chose to kill it anyway. This looks like a political stunt, and our veterans are the ones paying the price.

We’ve been waiting for this project since 2020. Today they sent a clear message: Our veterans don’t matter to them.

WE NEED YOU.
All veterans, families, and supporters: Join us TODAY at 5:00 PM at Commissioners Court for a Show of Presence.

Our VSO will speak during Citizens Communication to address the County Judge and County Auditors directly. Let’s pack the room and show them that Maverick County stands by its veterans.

When: Today at 5:00 PM
Where: Commissioners Court
Why: Because our veterans deserve to be honored, not forgotten.

Help Us Honor Their Memory
Attention family and friends, Memorial Junior High will host a service honoring the men and women on our POW/MIA/KIA monument at the lake.

We’re looking for family members of those listed to help us tell their stories. If your loved one is on the monument, we’d love to feature their photo and a few details about who they were.

What we need
-Photos: service photos, family photos, anything you cherish
- Info: name, rank, branch

About last night….

Thank you to everyone who made it out to celebrate the beginning of Veterans Month with our annual Veterans Day Dance… we had a lot of fun dancing and celebrating our local veterans amongst friends and family!!! We want to thank the Knights of Columbus for hosting us, thank you Walmart Eagle Pass, Taco Palenque Eagle Pass, Eagle Pass Housing Authority, and Misha’s cakes for their incredible donations! Thank you members of VFW Post 8562 and America Legion for helping put all this together!!

Friends and family don’t forget we have our bike run toy drive on December 21st. We are inviting Motorcycle clubs as well as individuals that would like to participate. (You don’t have to ride to attend the event or to donate) Don’t forget to stay after for some food and drinks! Let’s come together and bring some holiday cheer to our community!!!
