Love & Second Chances was founded in 2012 in hopes to better connect the public with the rescue community. Our rescue is based out of Northern California (San Ramon, CA) with a small division in Sacramento, CA. We are a foster based rescue with two rescue programs; a local rescue program and a international rescue program. Our team consist of compassionate individuals who share the same goals. We

Hi! Iโ€™m Zazi, and Iโ€™m sure youโ€™re going to fall in love with me! Iโ€™m a loving, affectionate girl who really enjoys being with my people. In fact, Iโ€™m not shy about asking for what I want! If I need some love, Iโ€™ll gently paw at you to let you know itโ€™s affection time.

I had a bit of a rough start in life. Iโ€™ve had at least one litter of puppies, and thankfully, I was rescued before I could be passed along and used for breeding again. Now Iโ€™m learning what itโ€™s like to simply be a dog โ€” and Iโ€™m discovering that life is pretty darn wonderful when youโ€™re loved.

I have a pug foster brother, and we get along well. Iโ€™d probably be happiest as the only dog getting all the attention, or sharing my home with another independent dog who doesnโ€™t need to be attached at the hip. Iโ€™m still figuring out this whole โ€œtoysโ€ thing, though.

But walks? Now THAT I understand! Iโ€™m excellent on leash and love getting out and about. When Iโ€™m excited, I have a very funny habit of rolling onto my back. So when my foster mom brings out my harness, I may immediately go belly-up like, โ€œYes! Letโ€™s do this!โ€ And I also absolutely LOVE rolling around on the grass. And the pavement. Really, if thereโ€™s a surface available, I may decide it needs a little Zazi roll. Iโ€™m very enthusiastic about it.

These days, Iโ€™m all about walks, belly rubs, rolling around, and being close to my people. Iโ€™m a hardy little Frenchie with a soft heart, and once I decide youโ€™re my person, youโ€™ll know it. Iโ€™m ready to be loved simply for being Zazi. Could you be the person who shows me just how wonderful that can be? โค๏ธ

Meet Vita! Vita was rescued from the shelter before his time ran out, fortunately his time in the shelter did not break his spirit as he came into foster care full of life! Vita is a very sweet and loving boy who enjoys being around both people and dogs. We are looking for a home that understands the responsibilities of owning and raising a dog. Vita loves to play fetch and is a foodie at heart, he is very easy going overall and can adjust quickly. Tofu has since gotten a clean bill of health and ready to find his forever home! Meet Marigold aka Goldie! Goldie was rescued along with her littermates when they were found abandoned in a box behind a CVS. Thankfully someone was able to find them and brought them to the shelter where they were able to reach our rescue for intake. Goldie is a sweet and spunky girl who loves to play and be around her people. This sweet, goofy girl is always ready for fun and absolutely loves playing fetch. If youโ€™ll throw the ball, sheโ€™ll happily bring it back again and again!

Goldie is a happy, social puppy who enjoys playing with other dogs and would thrive in an active home where she can get plenty of exercise, playtime, and attention. Sheโ€™s still learning the basics, including potty training and leash manners, but sheโ€™s making great progress and will continue to flourish with consistency and patience. Because sheโ€™s still a puppy, Goldie is curious, playful, and loves to chew, so sheโ€™ll do best with lots of appropriate toys and an active family to keep her busy. Iโ€™m Coconut aka Coco! My story started on the streets of Oakland, where I was found. I currently live with another dog and I do just fine hanging out with him. I also live with two cats. Iโ€™ll admit theyโ€™re awfully fun to chase if they run, but confident cats usually convince me theyโ€™re not interested, and I move along.โ

I love treats, walks, and soak up affection from people I know. I can be a little cautious when meeting new people, especially men or young children. But once I realize visitors are friends, Iโ€™m usually happy to accept a few pets and then settle down.โ

I still have a few things Iโ€™m working on. Walks can be exciting, and sometimes I bark when people or other dogs get too close. Iโ€™m very food motivated, so treats and positive training help me make good choices. I just need someone willing to continue building my confidence.โ

Hi! Iโ€™m Sparkyโ€ฆ although around here Iโ€™m called Sparks or Sparkles, depending on whether Iโ€™m being adorable or just a little mischievous. Before rescue, I was one of more than 20 dogs crammed into cages in the back of a pickup truck. I managed to escape, and a kind man rescued me. He wanted to help, but I needed medical care he couldnโ€™t afford, so Love and Second Chances took me in.โ

I arrived underweight with a painful skin infection, ear infections, and very little fur. Thanks to great care, soothing baths, good food, and lots of love, Iโ€™m healthy, gaining weight, and my fur is growing back. Iโ€™m now vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and ready for my forever home.โ

Iโ€™m either โ€œonโ€ or โ€œoff.โ€ When Iโ€™m awake, I love zoomies, toys, wrestling with my dog friends, walks, and curling up in your lap. I adore other dogs, enjoy adventures, and food is definitely the way to my heart.โ

Dogs? Other dogs in the house would be awesome! Cats? Well, Iโ€™ll chase and bark at them unless they are the savvy street smart catsโ€”they just look at me like Iโ€™m crazy. Kids? Ethan has found his forever home โค๏ธ

โ€œWhen we first brought Ethan home, we knew it would take time for him to settle in, but watching him adjust so quickly and beautifully has been pure joy. Having recently said goodbye to our sweet Charlie, we werenโ€™t sure if we were truly ready for another dog but we knew our hearts still had so much love to give.

By day two, seeing Ethan go from hesitant to falling fast asleep belly-up right beside us proved just how safe and loved he feels. He melted our hearts instantly, and we know deep down that sweet Charlie sent him our way to help us heal.

We love spending our days with him. Whether itโ€™s out exploring the neighborhood during our walks, or hitting the road together on bike and scooter rides, heโ€™s already turned out to be the best adventure buddy!
