Radiant Hall is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

Radiant Hall empowers artists to sustain thriving studio practices by creating and preserving access to space, shared resources, programs, and a supportive community of peers. Radiant Hall currently operates over 70 studios (30,000sf) in three locations, this year reaching a milestone of 250 artists and creatives hosted in our studio spaces. While our mission is rooted in ensuring space for artist

s to create, we also believe that building a community centered around providing equitable opportunities for artists to develop, share, and grow their practice or creative business is just as essential. Our programs, now open for anyone to join, include one-on-one visits and group critiques with industry professionals, grant writing and business marketing workshops, artist statement and creative writing reviews, and more. Through our Open Studio events and outdoor Pop-up Markets we engage the public to buy art, demystify the art-making process and build relationships between residents and local artists. We have also established residency programs and partnerships designed to actively recruit and support artists from diverse communities.

The Category Is: ________ explores the Black history of Denim (aka negro cloth) from its inception in the americas during slavery, to its popularization in mainstream fashion with the rise of hip hop culture, celebrating the preservation of us through art, fashion & denim. Once being one of the few fabrics our ancestors were allowed to wear, a material that any “professional” looked down upon, now known as every day wear due to Black people popularizing it through the rise of hip hop culture. Exhibiting in Radiant Hall’s new gallery, P|R|OJECT Space, through October 18th.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if your child wasn’t just watching art happen but helping make it?

If your answer is yes (or you’re simply curious), join multidisciplinary artist Melike Konur (Melike Vivastine Konur) this Saturday, July 25 for ‘Brown Moon’, the second Play Date workshop in a three-part residency exploring what becomes possible when children are invited into the creative process as collaborators.

Created with and inspired by Melike’s own journey of making art alongside her son, ‘Brown Moon PlayDate’ invites children and caregivers (especially ages 3–7) into an imaginative, intergenerational experience inspired by the changing phases of the moon.

Together we’ll tell stories, play, imagine, create, and wonder. There are no perfect outcomes, only shared discovery, collective authorship, and the joy of making something together.

Come as you are. Bring your curiosity. Leave with a story only your family could have created.

REMINDER // Next Thursday, 7.16 we’re hosting a group critique with Nicole Lampl (Nicole Lampl) 6-8pm // RH Homewood | 7800 Susquehanna Street Group critiques are free and open to the public, but registration is required to save your spot! Link in bio.

Come through to connect with Nicole and other members of the community and get feedback on your work. Participants are also welcome to join for conversation only without presenting.

Nicole Lampl is a curator, writer, and art historian, currently serving as Curator of American Art at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art (The Westmoreland Museum of American Art). Previously, she was the inaugural Director and Curator of the Reeves House Visual Arts Center in Atlanta, launching its visual arts program and curating over 20 exhibitions.

Equity, inclusion, and accessibility drive Nicole’s work; she believes deeply in art’s power to illuminate lived experience and build empathy across difference, and has made it her mission to create inclusive spaces that serve and reflect diverse communities.

Earlier this month, we hosted a screening of ‘Paid Leave’, the companion short film to ‘overdraft.’ followed by a conversation with the creative team about experimentation, collaboration, the offscreen realities, and the joy of world-building. Moderated by Kimberly Jones, the discussion brought local artists across fashion, sound, cinematography , photography, and more:

Carly reflected on world-building as self-understanding and the devotional work of collective care across such a multifaceted project. Tyeasha spoke honestly about getting a show off the ground (“a lot of late nights, a lot of spreadsheets”) and the euphoria when it all comes together. Vondre talked about releasing his inner child for this work, and why documentation matters so much when your own childhood has so little of it.

💎 What special interest, skill, or information do you bring to the Radiant Hall community?
I am an artist who loves art in every form it takes, from traditional art, to craft, to the performing arts.

🏠 How did you arrive in Pittsburgh?
I am a Pittsburgh native.

📓 What’s the biggest challenge in your artistic practice right now?
Pushing past the rejections and still believing that there is still a yes in the future. So much of being an artist involves applying to open calls and submitting proposals. When the organization reviews our application and rejects us it can feel like our ideas aren’t valid but they are. I have learned that a part of being an artist is still following your vision beyond someone else’s “No.”

🎨 What’s something in your studio you can’t live without?
Paper towels!! I use them in my practice as I paint and I feel lost when I forget to restock them because so much of the way I paint emphasizes dryness and using the paper towel as my eraser and sometimes as an additional brush.

➡️ What’s next for you?
I am developing two new bodies of work. It’s exciting because the new studio space has inspired me in ways I did not expect. Something about sitting in my own studio has helped me see my work in new ways and develop my ideas further.
