🎟️ Can you help with two more raffle prizes?

We’re grateful for the community members and businesses who have already contributed! We could use two more prizes to round out our raffle.

If you’re planning to donate, please have your contribution to me by November 3.

Raffle tickets will be available beginning at the Seniors on the Go luncheon on November 4 and through our Harvest Dinner on Saturday, November 7, where we’ll honor our veterans and active-duty service members and announce the winning numbers.

Homesteaders 2027!

I’m starting to gather instructors and ideas for our 2027 Homesteaders monthly demonstrations. We already have folks interested in presenting, a list of topics to choose from, and requests to bring back some past favorites!

If you have a talent or a special skill you’d love to share with the community, please reach out to me. I’d love to hear your ideas!

Meanwhile, we still have three great demonstrations coming up to finish out 2026—all from 2–4 PM:

🌲 October 25 — Foraging & Forest Products at Yuba Rim Trail with Alicia and Sara.

🌿 November 15 — Herbal Medicine Making & Salves at 10775 Texas Hill Rd., Dobbins, with Ronda Bridges.

🏺 December 6 — Primitive Pottery at the Alcouffe Center with Sara Fowler.

Demonstrations are $10, or free for YFACA members. New members are welcome!

🌱 Save the date for our Annual Seed Swap — February 21, 2027! Bring seeds, plant starters, ideas, and tricks of the trade to share—or come see what others have to offer! All community members are welcome on either side of the table. It’s a free event with free distribution of seeds and plant starters!

Hey guys! ♻️ I’m collecting another round of recycling today, tomorrow, and Sunday for our Seniors on the Go fundraiser! We have volunteer sorters coming in on Tuesday, so please help us put them to work! 😊

We’re collecting CRV aluminum cans and plastic bottles—no glass this round. Message me to arrange a drop-off or pickup.

What a wonderful gathering at today’s Seniors on the Go luncheon! It was so nice to see familiar faces and welcome newcomers. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our wonderful volunteers who helped make it all possible! ❤️

Thank you to Jesse Golden, who discussed avoiding internet theft and scams as part of our Foothill Computer Literacy Program, and Heidi Shelton, who shared information about Medicare prescription changes.

Zachary and Michael were also there to assist the public with Chromebook and internet use, as well as printing. We hope to continue offering this service at each luncheon!

Here are the announcements we shared:

🐾 Possible Foothill Senior Pet Care Assistance Program
We’re exploring a possible grant-funded program to help older adults with veterinary expenses, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, medications, and urgent or medically necessary care.

Thank you to everyone who completed the survey today! Your responses will help us document the need and determine what assistance would be most useful before we apply for funding.

We also want to hear from people who have delayed their pet’s care because of cost or hesitate to have a pet because of future veterinary bills. Completing the survey does not guarantee assistance, and you do not have to complete it to qualify for a future program.

🍂 YFACA Fundraising Harvest Dinner
Saturday, November 7, at 4 PM at the Alcouffe Center

Veterans eat free! Please come enjoy dinner and support YFACA. Thank you for supporting our community programs!

We’re also gathering raffle prizes. If you have something to donate or know someone who does, please let us know. We’ll launch the raffle at our next luncheon, and you do not have to be present at the Saturday dinner to win.

💻 Computer Learning and Assistance Will Continue!
We just received an additional 50 Chromebooks under our grant, and we’re taking sign-ups for continued learning, small-group discussions, and computer assistance. Connect with us to sign up!

🌲 Wildfire Fuel Reduction Program
The Yuba County Resource Conservation District’s CAL FIRE grant-funded program helps reduce forest underbrush and wildfire fuels, with Dobbins and Oregon House as priority areas.

Paper applications are available in the Little Free Library at the entrance to the Alcouffe Center. You can also apply online at https://yubarcd.org—look under Quicklinks for the application.

🍇🍓 Fresh produce is coming to Seniors on the Go this Wednesday!

We’ll have a pallet of produce, including grapes and strawberries, available for our guests.

Join us at 11:30 AM at the Alcouffe Center — come enjoy lunch, community, and some fresh produce to take home!

🚐 Need a ride to Seniors on the Go this Wednesday, October 7, at the Alcouffe Center? Rides are FREE, compliments of AARP!

Enjoy door-to-door service—from your home to the luncheon and back home!

⏰ Reservations need to be made by TODAY. Call Foothill Resource Center at 530-675-9576 to arrange your ride.

Free rides will also be available for our November 4 and December 2 luncheons at the Alcouffe Center!
