The Rotary Club of De Soto recently had the honor of meeting longtime Rotary supporter and local author, R.E. Darhcs!

Each Rotarian was gifted a copy of his book, "SIMPLE: Limericks, Poems, and Musings", which can be purchased on Amazon. Making it even more special, many of the poems were inspired by—or even written about—a member of our very own De Soto Rotary Club!

What a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a talented local author, share some laughs, and discover the clever man behind R.E. Darhcs!!

De Soto Rotary Club had the honor of sending De Soto High School student Alexia Brown to the Missouri RYLA Academy. Today, she reported back to the club about "The Best Experience of Her Life"!! Alexia loved the team trust building activities where she gained full confidence to be unapologetically herself. She 100% recommends other students to attend!! Her team even won with their service project "YES-Youth Empowerment Society" - a mental health connection club.

RYLA helps young adults build leadership skills, confidence, and connections through Rotary‑led training and hands‑on experiences. Rotary Club of De Soto is proud to sponsor local students to attend this powerful, life changing academy year after year!!

In honor of America's 250th Anniversary, Rotary Club of De Soto was proud to give back to our community through a special service project. The club spruced up the Fallen Heroes Memorial in Spross Park ensuring it remains a respectful and welcoming place for visitors. This project reflects Rotary's commitment to "Service Above Self" while helping preserve this important community landmark for future generations.

A special Thank you to Kyleigh Weiler for speaking with Rotary Club of De Soto today! Kyliegh is a Jefferson R-7 Student who attended the 2025 Rotary Youth Leadership Academy. She reflected on her experience and highlighted the key lessons that continue to shape her growth and future endeavors. Congrats Kyleigh as she will also be returning to RYLA 2026, but this time as an intern!!!!

Rotary Club of De Soto's Past President Terri Schrader attended the De Soto Senior High School awards ceremony evening to honor Jr Rotarian Quaid Pruitt with a $1,000 "Service Before Self" Rotary Scholarship. Congrats Quaid!!

A Rotary International outdoor grant was awarded to the De Soto Rotary Club!! The $1,000 was used to enhance the area around the gazebo at Walther Park. The club was happy to help create an even more beautiful, welcoming and enjoyable gathering space for the community!! The gorgeous trees and plants were purchased locally from Ben’s Nursery.
