You never quite know what pianist Gabriela Montero will play next.

One of the things that makes Gabriela such a captivating performer is her extraordinary gift for improvisation. She regularly takes suggestions from the audience and turns them into spontaneous, one-of-a-kind performances.

In this clip, an audience member suggests the theme from Harry Potter. What Gabriela does with it? Well… you’ll have to watch.

This Sunday, you can experience Gabriela’s artistry live when she makes her FCM debut with her program "Iberia." Expect music by Albéniz, Granados, Liszt and more—and perhaps a little improvisational magic of her own.

Join our friends at The Playground Ensemble as they celebrate Dia de los Mu***os with a performance of Gabriela Ortiz’s ceremonial Altar de Mu***os. This theatrical performance features water drums, traditional ankle rattles, and masks made by local Mexican artist, Josefina Calzada. Hosted inside an intimate gallery space, enjoy Cal Duran’s exhibition, “Mu***os: A Journey of Life and Death as One” on display in its debut week. What a wonderful way to open the season! 🎶

We had so much fun welcoming audiences back to the concert hall last weekend for our season opener with the String Quartet and pianist Jeremy Denk.

From the engaging pre-concert conversation hosted by Kim Millett to the treats our board members shared at intermission, it was a terrific afternoon from start to finish. Most of all, thank you to everyone who joined us and helped fill the hall with the energy of a live audience.

We hope to see you back on October 11, when pianist Gabriela Montero makes her Friends of Chamber Music debut!

Yesterday, Friends of Chamber Music launched a new partnership with Craig Hospital, bringing chamber music to patients and families through their world-renowned music therapy program.

Four concerts will be offered throughout the year, beginning with yesterday’s performance by the Astrodon String Quartet, the new Quartet in Residence at CU Boulder.

We’re excited to share the joy and connection of live music with the Craig community—and look forward to many more musical moments together!
