How is it that a billion dollar corporation can make record profits by raising our rents each year without actually making these homes safe and accesssible for all?

It might have something to do with the fact that they lobby for laws that favor their business model, not the people who rent from them.

Corporate landlords turned our rent burden into a business model. They use the power imbalance between landlord and renter to raise rents, maximize profits, and push more and more people into instability every single year.

If communities had a say, they’d focus on making rents affordable for all. Not making Greystar more money.

That's why building more housing alone won't bring down rents.

If we can also check corporate greed, we can build a housing system that is more interested in keeping people housed than keeping corporate execs rich.

If we build more housing, we need to ALSO do something about how corporate landlords fully control it. By passing rent stabilization, we can check corporate greed and make our homes permanently affordable.

Corporate landlords want us to believe housing is not a human right, but rather their personal profit machine. And because they fund politicians and their lobbyists, they get to write the laws that protect their greed.

When we come together and stand up for renters, we can make rents affordable for the long term by capping how much rent can increase each year. That's why we need rent stabilization in Colorado, so housing can be led by people not corporations.

Corporate control of rents has made housing unaffordable. Their greed drives rents up year after year, forcing families to struggle financially or move out of the communities they call home.

Corporate landlords have rigged housing for so long that rising rents are now treated like a natural fact of life. But they're not.

Corporate landlords choose to raise rents, pushing people out of their homes and making it harder and harder for working families to get by.

What we need is rent stabilization so local governments can tackle rising rents using every tool available to them. By repealing the ban on rent stabilization in Colorado, we can make housing affordable long term, so people can stay in their communities and build the lives they want to live.
