There may be a giant construction hole in the ground, but that isn't stopping Marczyk Fine Foods from hosting their popular neighborhood BBQ, Burger Nights, this Friday, June 19, from 5:30–7 p.m.

A few BRT folks, along with We Back The Fax, will be there to answer your constructions questions. So get out and enjoy the summer nights in your neighborhood and learn about what's happening on the streets!

City Floral Garden Center is the oldest in Denver. It opened it's doors in 1911. That's pre-World War 1!

Rocky Mountain PBS goes into that history and shares why it's continued to live on and be loved by so many people today!

The garden center — the oldest remaining greenhouse in Denver — celebrated its 115th anniversary this spring.

"Even more telling, several of the new businesses were opened by owners already located on Colfax. That’s not retreat, that’s reinvestment that reflects a faith in the future of Colfax. At least one new business chose the corridor specifically because BRT will make it easier for employees to get to work."

What are your thoughts? Are the construction challenges overstated?

"The choice isn’t between supporting businesses and building better transit."

The cheese! The potatoes! The elegance! You have to try this next-level hash brown by La Fillette Bakery, featured in the The Denver Post's Four Dishes We Loved in May article.

"The two-time champion of the Golden Croissant, an award handed out by a co-op of Denver bakers, makes a mean hash brown, too. La Fillette Bakery’s version is technically a “rosti,” a Swiss variety made with fried potatoes. A bed of warm gruyere cheese under it takes the dish to another level. Strong flavor and presentation from a bakery that just celebrated 11 years in operation."

Owner of Tessa Delicatessen, Vince Howard, is one of the biggest cheerleaders in the Mayfair area (and the loving lunch lady to the community). Vince shares some of his favorite restaurants in the district on rotation in his day-to-day that you should check out too!

Thanks for being such a great neighbor, Vince! Tessa Deli is such a special spot because of you and your team!

Nick Turner has always been interested in entrepreneurship and building businesses. It’s one reason why he is the youngest franchise owner of Marco's Pizza. His location opened on 6160 E Colfax in November.

“I hope my journey shows other young entrepreneurs that business ownership is possible with hard work, discipline, and the right opportunity,” he says.

Turner was born and raised in Denver and graduated from Machebeuf High School nearby in 2013.

“Opening a business in this area means a lot to me because this city is home,” he says. “I’m excited to be part of the Mayfair community and build something long-term here while connecting with local residents, schools, and nearby businesses.”

Let’s give Nick a (long-delayed) welcome to the neighborhood. Congratulations on the new business!
