🎓 DID YOU KNOW?

There are 107 HBCUs across 19 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

While many Colorado students are familiar with local colleges and universities, HBCUs offer a unique blend of academic excellence, cultural connection, and community. For generations, these institutions have created spaces where students feel a strong sense of belonging, see themselves reflected in leadership and campus life, and are empowered to succeed both in college and beyond.

Bonus Question 🤓
Can you name the HBCU closest to Colorado without looking it up?

Drop your guess in the comments and tag a future HBCU student who should know this fact.

HBCU excellence on full display. ✨

For the first time in its history, Spelman College has named seven valedictorians for the Class of 2026. This historic achievement highlights the academic excellence, leadership, and legacy that continue to define HBCUs across the country.

Congratulations to these outstanding scholars on making history and inspiring the next generation.

🎨 YOUR ART. OUR LEGACY. ✊🏾

Last year, we had the opportunity to work with to create the inaugural Mile High HBCU Weekend commemorative t-shirt. We’d loved seeing members of the community proudly rocking the design at our events and taking a piece of the experience home with them.

As we prepare for the 2026 Mile High HBCU Weekend, we’re excited to once again shine a light on a talented Black creative and commission the official design for this year’s commemorative t-shirt.

We’re looking for a design that captures the spirit of HBCU culture, legacy, pride, community, and the energy that makes Mile High HBCU Weekend special.

✨ Paid commission opportunity
✨ Your artwork featured on the official 2026 commemorative t-shirt
✨ Exposure to hundreds of HBCU students, alumni, and supporters from across Colorado and beyond
✨ An opportunity to leave your mark on a growing community tradition

A special thank you to for helping us bring our first commemorative shirt to life in 2025. We can’t wait to see what the next artist creates for 2026.

Interested?
📩 Send us a DM or email [email protected] for more information.

Tag a Black artist, illustrator, or designer who should submit their work! 👇🏾
