First up, this Thursday, October 8, the Many Faces of BARD will offer tips on advanced navigation on the BARD Mobile app. After the presentation and demonstration, NLS staff members will take questions about all things BARD for the remainder of the hour. www.loc.gov/nls/news-and-updates/many-faces-of-bard?loclr=fbnls.
On Tuesday, October 13, the quarterly Patron Corner will continue the celebration of BARD’s 20th anniversary. The program will feature a panel of NLS colleagues and patrons who were the first users of BARD in a 2006 beta test. Here at CTBL, we have been working to offer more library programs for you, our patrons. We currently have two recurring programs, a monthly Book Club and a quarterly Patron Advisory Group. Legislative Blue Book
Each year, the Colorado Talking Book Library records an alternative audio version of the State Ballot Information Booklet (Blue Book) for the Legislative Council of the Colorado General Assembly. For anyone needing a text version of the Blue Book, please visit the Legislative Council’s website or link directly to the full text version of the 2026 Blue Book at: 2026 Blue Book - PDF File
This booklet provides information on the statewide measures on the ballot. Each statewide measure receives an analysis that includes a description of the measure and major arguments for and against. Careful consideration has been given to the arguments in an effort to fairly represent both sides of the issue. Each analysis also includes an estimate of the fiscal impact of the measure. More information on the fiscal impact of measures can be found on the Colorado General Assembly Website. The state constitution requires that the nonpartisan research staff of the General Assembly prepare these analyses and distribute them in a ballot information booklet to registered voter households.

NASA is hosting an accessible webinar for the blind and low-vision community on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, at 2 p.m. Eastern time. The webinar will last about two hours and include: an audio-described video of an RS-25 engine test, a Q&A session with an RS-25 engineer, and a panel about accessibility in space and science. The event will be hosted on the Zoom platform.

This event is open for all members of the public, but it is tailored specifically for members of the blind and low-vision community.
