This October, during Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we join Adam's Purpose in honoring the babies who are deeply loved, deeply missed, and forever remembered. 💜

At FFRC, we believe every family deserves compassionate, culturally responsive support through grief and loss. We're grateful for organizations like Adam's Purpose that provide this important care to Black and Brown mothers and families in our community.

At Adam's Purpose, every loss matters. They provide culturally responsive grief support for Black and Brown mothers and families navigating the loss of a child, including loss during pregnancy, birth, infancy, and beyond.

Through peer support groups, family healing circles, individual and family therapy, community connections, and resource navigation, families can find support that honors their grief, their culture, and their individual healing journey.

To every family carrying the love and memory of a baby gone too soon, we see you, we honor your loss, and you do not have to grieve alone.

EOC appointments are officially open again! 💛

Starting today, October 13, FFRC is reopening appointment booking for Energy Outreach Colorado (EOC) utility assistance!

We know how challenging it can be to keep up with household expenses, especially as the colder months approach. This program helps eligible Colorado families access assistance with their energy bills and ease some of the financial burden.

Appointments will be available on Tuesdays only:

🍽️ Closed for lunch from 12:00 – 1:00 PM
📍 Last appointment begins at 2:30 PM

To the NICU families,

Leaving the hospital without your baby is like leaving a piece of yourself behind. Going home empty-handed while your baby stays behind is a feeling no parent should have to know.

NICU families find a strength in themselves they never knew was possible. To every family driving to the NICU day after day to sit beside an isolette, hold a tiny hand, celebrate every little milestone, and wait for the day you can finally bring your baby home, we see you. Your strength does not go unnoticed. There is a light at the end of this tunnel, even on the days when it feels impossibly far away.

And to the incredible NICU workers who make leaving each night just a little easier, thank you. Thank you for caring for these precious babies around the clock. Thank you for loving them when their parents cannot be there. Thank you for the reassurance, the hugs, and the tears you wipe away from moms who get tangled in cords just trying to hold their babies. Thank you for giving families a reason to feel like their babies are safe when they have to walk out those hospital doors without them.

We are so grateful for the modern medicine and technology that give babies who need intensive care the chance to grow stronger and eventually go home.

During NICU Awareness Month, FFRC honors every baby who has spent time in the NICU, every family who has made that difficult drive day after day, and every healthcare worker who cares for these babies as if they were their own.

Every baby deserves the opportunity to celebrate their first birthday. 💛

September is National Infant Mortality Awareness Month, a time to remember the babies lost too soon, honor the families affected by loss, and recommit ourselves to creating healthier beginnings for every baby.

While infant mortality rates have improved over time, too many infant deaths remain preventable, and significant differences in outcomes continue to affect communities across the country. Creating change takes all of us, from families and health care providers to community organizations, advocates, and policymakers.

By expanding access to quality prenatal and postpartum care, addressing social and economic barriers, supporting families, and investing in community-based programs like Healthy Start, we can continue working toward better outcomes for mothers, babies, and families.

Awareness Month may come to an end, but the work does not. At FFRC, we remain committed to supporting families and helping every baby have the healthiest possible start.

Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder that changes the shape of red blood cells from round to hard, sticky “sickles.” These misshapen cells can block blood flow, causing severe pain, fatigue, infections, and even organ damage. Living with Sickle Cell often means managing unpredictable health crises and navigating a healthcare system that doesn’t always listen.

Over 90% of people with Sickle Cell Disease in the U.S. are Black. This is not just a statistic—it’s a reality that comes with unique challenges, from managing intense, daily pain to navigating a healthcare system often plagued by systemic racism and medical bias. For many Black patients, their pain is under-treated and their suffering is dismissed.

To every Sickle Cell Warrior in the Black community: We see your strength and your resilience. We honor the daily courage it takes to live with this disease, and we acknowledge the systemic fight you face just to be heard. You are not alone.

This month, let’s go beyond awareness. Let's demand health equity, amplify these stories, and support the community. Wear burgundy, share these facts, and stand in solidarity with the incredible Warriors who deserve better.

Black birthing people experience significantly higher rates of maternal sepsis and face worse outcomes. This is not due to race, but to systemic racism, implicit bias, and the dismissal of Black patients' pain and concerns. These delays in diagnosis and treatment are dangerous and often fatal.

To every Black family who has endured this, to every survivor, and to those who have lost a loved one: Your resilience is unmatched. Your stories are powerful. We hear you, we see you, and we stand with you in demanding better.

Awareness demands action. Here’s how you can make a difference:

Know the Signs: Use the T.I.M.E.(Temperature, signs of Infection, Mental Decline, Extremely ill). If an infection is worsening, seek immediate help.

Speak Up: Trust your body. If you feel "the worst ever," tell a healthcare provider, "I am concerned about sepsis."

Advocate for Change: Support organizations fighting for Black maternal health equity, and demand mandatory anti-racism training for all healthcare staff.

Curious about a career in the plumbing trade? We have a great opportunity for you.

Join us for a free introduction to plumbing through our Plumbing with Purpose workshop. This course offers hands-on learning, practical skill-building, and an opportunity to explore the trade in a supportive environment.

Participants can earn certificates of completion for individual classes or for completing the full course. Those who complete all four classes will receive a plumbing tool bag starter kit.

Open to any gender over the age of 16. Spots are limited.
