Because at DCH, we believe in making room for joy, connection, curiosity—and apparently, very strong opinions about which bear deserves the crown.

At Denver Children’s Home there’s something pretty special about watching a student proudly show someone around their school.

Bansbach Academy’s Back to School Night gives our students the opportunity to welcome families, friends, advocates, and other important people into their classrooms. They give tours, share projects and schoolwork, introduce their guests to their teachers, and sometimes even put them to the test with a puzzle or challenge!

Most importantly, it’s a chance to celebrate growth. We are so proud of the hard work our students put in every day—and so grateful to everyone who shows up to celebrate alongside them.

Hispanic Heritage originally was only celebrated for a week from 1968 till 1988 where it expanded to a month. The month-long celebration gives the opportunity for a spotlight to be put on all the contributions the Hispanic/Latino community have made and continue to make in U.S. in all areas of life.

Sometimes it can be overwhelming to know what tasks you need to accomplish as well as how to manage your time to complete said tasks. The kids recently learned about a famous time-management and life-prioritization analogy called Sand-Stone Jar. The kids then applied what they learned to create a super fun display!

It can be hard to take time for ourselves, but self-care is so important for our well-being. Ensure you make time for things you enjoy to refill your cup; coffee with a friend, reading your favorite mystery novel, or spending time ankle deep in river water, waiting for the fish to bite!

Last month, Denver Children’s Home was so very excited preparing for and enjoying our inaugural Volunteer Appreciation Party! The kids designed beautiful banners and plates and prepared speeches to show their gratitude. Our staff helped get ready, welcomed our volunteers, put together a delicious barbeque, and organized lawn games for all to enjoy. We cannot thank our volunteers enough for all they contribute to the organization and to the kids’ lives.

We can’t wait for next year and hope you can join us!

Today was the start of Bansbach Academy 2026-2027 school year! Our staff and kids are energized, inspired, and ready for an amazing year of learning and growth. We can't wait to what the school year has in store for us.

Denver Children’s Home is back in session with Zuma's Rescue Ranch!! We have had an incredible time with the new group of clients.

The group spent a most of the day outside with the animals and everyone enjoyed the warm, sunny weather but took lots of water breaks throughout. After a brief discussion with Misty and Shelly (our Zuma leaders), our kids jumped right back into the morning chore routine and enjoyed re-connecting with the animals, especially the donkeys, Reba and Dolly...

July is Disability Pride Month! Learn more about the colors on the Disabled Pride flag. The meaning of the colors of the Disability Pride Flag:
> Red - physical disabilities
> Gold - neurodiversity
> White - invisible disabilities and disabilities that haven't yet been diagnosed
> Blue - emotional and psychiatric disabilities, including mental illness, anxiety, and depression
> Green - for sensory disabilities, including deafness, blindness, lack of smell, lack of taste, audio processing disorder, and all other sensory disabilities
