Did you know yesterday was National Hairstylist Appreciation Day? Did you know that DCH works with amazing people in the community every day that positively impact our kids' lives?

Meet Allison! In the past, Allison offered free haircuts to the community, but six months ago she found Denver Children’s Home. “It’s already a great fit!

The importance of volunteering was instilled in me when I was growing up. I remember going to work at the soup kitchen with my grandfather and the food bank with my grandmother when I was a kid, then getting service hours for school by volunteering with a variety of other organizations later on."

Let's get serious for a moment. April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month and last year 1 in 7 kids in the United States experienced abuse and/or neglect -- as an estimate, that's over 10,000,000 youth in our country, and representative of 175,000 kids in Colorado. At Denver Children's Home, we help kids who have survived trauma, neglect, and abuse confront serious mental health challenges. We know that evidence-based support helps kids recover from trauma and can restore hope and health.

Every year, our kids make pinwheels for Child Abuse Awareness Month which represent playfulness and joy. Here at Denver Children's Home, we do hard things, but we also incorporate play and creativity letting kids be kids!

Whether you're a staff member, volunteer, community partner, donor, and/or awareness amabassor, you are helping to bring about transformational healing for kids that truly need it and deserve it.

Springtime, Spreak Break, and Easter came altogether in a marathon this year at Denver Children's Home! The kids celebrated these colorful events with some amazing, equally colorful sidewalk chalk murals and we are in love ❤️🖼️.

Every year we have so much fun showing off our basketball skills against the All Souls Catholic School basketball team! Our kids and staff look forward to this event every year, and we deeply appreciate the generosity of the amazing staff and students at All Souls. 🏀💙
