Our Youth Leadership Program is also offering this free cultural learning opportunity for students this weekend! Bring your curiosity and a friend—we’d love to see you there! 💛

Led by Trace Yang, our Hmong Language and Culture Program Director, who will be providing a more tailored version of the recent Hmong Culture Workshop to younger generations.

Over the weekend our Hmong Colorado Women’s line dancing team went to MN to celebrate and perform at a retirement party. We are so proud of the love and commitment they have for one another and our community across the country.

As part of our HCW community, you can show up every Monday and 3rd Saturday of the month to join us and if you’d like, showcase in community empowerment events. There is no costs or commitment to show up at every practice.

Discover Hmong culture and storytelling through textile art at the Broomfield Auditorium, then explore the Hmong textile exhibit in the Broomfield Library!

📅Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. in the Broomfield Auditorium
☕Coffee beverages will be provided by Golden Poppy Coffee.

A skilled Hmong textile artist will share the meaning and purpose of story cloths, then lead participants through a hands-on textile workshop where you can try traditional techniques and create your own story through fabric. Enjoy a complimentary coffee beverage from Golden Poppy Coffee while you create! There’s no cost to participate. No registration but space is limited.

Today, HMAAC met with Adams & Broomfield Counties Chief Coroner Monica Broncucia-Jordan and Deputy Chief Coroner Sherronda Appleberry to discuss Hmong cultural practices surrounding death and ways to better support our families during times of loss.

During our hour-and-a-half conversation, we discussed traditional clothing, cultural practices involving the removal of metal from the body, and respectful communication with grieving families. These discussions help build understanding of the traditions that hold deep meaning for our community.

Chief Coroner Broncucia-Jordan shared that building this relationship with the Hmong community was long overdue. We’re grateful for their openness and desire to listen, learn, and connect.

HMAAC looks forward to continuing this dialogue to help ensure our traditions are understood and our families are supported with dignity and respect.

This Hmong Culture Workshop was such a great learning experience.

I can see the passion from each and every presenter and committee member.

The Hmong Colorado community showed up!!! They were so welcoming and all willing to learn.

Words can’t express how grateful HMAAC is to everyone who helped made this event possible. What we shared was more than a day together, it was an opportunity to connect, learn from one another, and strengthen our community.

To our supporters, presenters, and volunteers: thank you for the time, knowledge, and care you gave. And to everyone who attended, thank you for showing up and being part of it.
