Jackal (my fospice dog) and I are in town visiting from Montana, and while he’s not super thrilled about the warm weather and city life, Jack is very happy to be involved in Tuttle’s training (training = treats!).
We’re currently working on getting Tuttle to alert less on walks. While he’s made great progress before now, it seems that having Jack accompany him is helping Tuttle feel a lot more secure. He’s been able to greet new dogs in the neighborhood with little-to-no dachshund grumbling! Well done, Tuttle, and thanks for the helping hand Jack!

Adoptive or forever foster home needed!
Are you in the market for a 20lbs hound dog who will cuddle with you on the couch, accompany you on walks around the neighborhood, and pre-warm the sheets when it’s time for bed? Well, look no further! Tuttle is a darling 13 year old dachshund mix who came to us as a stray out of Pueblo, Colorado.
There is nothing Tuttle loves more than being near people. Want to watch TV? He’s the perfect shape to squeeze in between you and the couch armrest. Need to go run errands? Tuttle is happy to hop in the car in a crate (safety first!) and keep you company. Want to go for a stroll in a rougher part of town? Tuttle will be your personal security guard- in classic dachshund fashion, he’s always ready to howl at anyone who looks sketchy (and those who don’t, he just likes howling).
Tuttle would do best in a home that has experience with dachshunds and anxiety. He’d love to live with someone who is retired, works from home, or is otherwise home often. He does well with other dogs after proper introduction and has politely interacted cats while out walking, but is still untested with indoor cats.
