🍷✨ Reenactment of the Judgment of Paris - a 50 year celebration✨🍷
This weekend, our Mile High Denver Bailliage proudly gathered to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the legendary Judgment of Paris—a tasting that forever changed the world of wine.
In 1976, nine of France's most eminent wine authorities — judges from Romanée-Conti, Taillevent, La Tour d'Argent, and the Académie du Vin — sat down in Paris to evaluate a group of wines they fully expected to dominate. They were wrong. Judging blind, they gave top honors in both the red and white flights to wines from California. Chateau Montelena bested the finest White Burgundies. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars outscored Mouton Rothschild and Haut-Brion. The French wine establishment was stunned — and the world of wine was never the same. Fifty years later, we honored this historic moment by recreating the experience, thoughtfully tasting and comparing exceptional wines while reflecting on the event’s enduring impact.
The evening was filled with spirited discussion, remarkable wines, and the camaraderie that defines Chaîne des Rôtisseurs United States and the Société Mondiale du Vin. Thank you to all who joined us in celebrating a milestone that continues to remind us that great wine knows no borders.
