Treatment Providers Alliance of Colorado - TPAC

Treatment Providers Alliance of Colorado - TPAC We formed to advocate for favorable legislation and regulations on treatment rules, continuing education and small business ownership.

Our goal is to educate professionals in areas of treatment, business, personal/professional development. In 2012, TPAC worked diligently to bring our beliefs to life:

• We were invited by the Colorado Department of Human Services to sit on the Stakeholders’ Executive Committee to draft the 2013 Integrated Mental Health and Substance Abuse Rules. Dr. Joyce Smith of Creative Treatment Options repre

sented TPAC in that vitally important task.

• TPAC introduced senate bill SB13-239 during the 2013 Session. This bill was drafted to prevent potential conflict of interest in the provision of services to a person on probation. Although defeated in the Senate, we are currently working on a bill to be introduced in the 2014 Session that will accomplish the goals we have fought for since 2009.

• TPAC has become recognized as an organization that has a powerful and influential voice in the treatment community. Increasingly, we are asked to support various causes and legislation that will impact substance abuse, mental health and domestic violence treatment in the state of Colorado.
