⛳️ Colorado Discover Ability hosted their first Annual Ability Open, and Camp Abilities Colorado was excited to be part of the event!

We hosted a hole where golfers could try teeing off while wearing glasses that simulated different types of low vision. It was a fun way to experience how changes in vision can impact your golf game! 👓🏌️‍♀️

Thank you to Colorado Mesa University for welcoming us to campus, hosting our camp, and providing an amazing home for our athletes and staff for the week.

Thank you to Colorado Discover Ability for introducing our athletes to paddleboarding and helping them experience the excitement and freedom of being out on the water.

Thank you to Aftersight, Penn Street, and Awarewolf Gear for creating an unforgettable hiking and orientation & mobility experience. Because of your generosity, every athlete went home with a brand-new Urban Xplorer cane—an incredible gift that will continue to support their independence long after camp.

We are also incredibly thankful for the four adults who are blind or have low vision who served as instructors, coaches, and powerful role models. Through activities including tandem biking, beep baseball, goalball, hiking, running, and beep kickball, they showed our athletes firsthand that blindness does not define what someone can accomplish.

We’re also grateful to our sports specialists for sharing their knowledge, encouragement, and passion for adaptive sports. Because of you, our athletes had opportunities to build confidence, independence, friendships, and a belief in what they can do.

Thank you for helping our athletes try something new, discover what they’re capable of, and create memories that will last a lifetime. 💙

Things got a little competitive when our athletes took on the coaches in a game of beep kickball! 🔔⚾

There was plenty of running, kicking, cheering, and maybe just a little banter. 😉 Most importantly, there were lots of laughs and memories made along the way!

Adventure doesn't end when camp does.

Thanks to Osprey Packs, every athlete received a hydration pack to take home—encouraging them to continue exploring, hiking, and staying active long after camp ended.

Thank you for investing in our athletes and equipping them for future adventures. We know these packs will be used on many adventures to come!

We are also incredibly grateful to all of our donors and fundraising partners who helped us purchase the many supplies, materials, and pieces of equipment used throughout camp. From meals and snacks to activity equipment and everyday camp supplies, your generosity helped make these experiences possible.

This thankful Thursday we want to say Thank You to Our Lions Clubs!

The Lions have long been champions for people who are blind or low vision, and that support was evident throughout our very first Camp Abilities Colorado.
