This is why your, voice, testimony for HB26-1109 is important. Right now, we need a research team to study our accessibility struggles! -1109

Do you want to see Colorado being updated and have the state regulate sign language interpreters?

Four Days. One Bill. One Chance to Catch Colorado Up!

-1109 establishes a state study on consumer protections for sign language interpreters. The first step toward licensure, Colorado has never had. Twenty states are ahead of us. Our neighbors New Mexico, Nebraska, and Arizona all require interperter licensure. We are behind.

Before Thursday, April 23:
-Submit Written Testimony at leg.colorado.gov
-Sign up to testify on Zoom (or submit written testimony)

CAD stands with survivors. Full stop.

We express complete disappointment in the alleged conduct described in the charges filed by the El Paso County Sheriff's Office against Jason Gunderson. Using a position of community trust to harm a minor(s) is an unforgivable betrayal of our values, our people, and everything Deaf leadership is supposed to mean.

Accountability starts with us by naming it, refusing to minimize it, and demanding better from our leaders and our organizations going forward.
