Media Action Network

Media Action Network A media focused non-profit for social change. Media Action Network was created to spread awareness of social injustice.

The cultural disconnect inherent in our society's economic woes, environmental degradation, unethical business practices, and monied politics can seem insurmountable. We believe, however, that knowledge and access to information can spark change. Change starting at the community level all the way to a national awakening. We believe that knowledge is the catalyst of change. No longer can we sit idl

y by and hope that change will happen. We must use the tools of education to spread awareness and advocate for the chance we want. We can do this not by spreading rhetoric and pandering, but with the knowledge we possess. This collective was created as a way to do this. We provide an avenue for writers, artists, academics, activists and the curious to disseminate and receive knowledge with the goal of increasing awareness.

Our country has grown appreciably since the 1980s (some dub this the great prosperity) until 2008. In fact, the average income per household rose by $11,714. Of that growth, however, the top 10 percent earned 98 percent of that growth leaving the bottom 90 percent of society with just 2 percent of that growth.

In 2008 an economic crash hit that rippled through all socio-economic statuses in America and abroad. Many individuals are still struggling to recover. But not everyone felt the crash equally.

This is such a great reminder for everyone that puts their heart, soul and every once of time and energy into a well-deserving cause. To be able to help others, you must also help yourself.

Ask yourself, “Can I truly continue to be productive and energetic at work without taking a significant break?” Really think about this. Just because you’re in the office, doesn’t mean that you’r...
