No Domestic Violence support the survivors, Believe them.

💙👖 Today we wear denim in support of survivors and in recognition of Denim Day. 👖💙🩱

Denim Day began after a deeply controversial court ruling in Italy in the 1990s.

An 18 year old girl reported that she had been r***d by her driving instructor during her very first lesson. Although the man was initially convicted, the conviction was later overturned after judges argued that because she had been wearing tight jeans, she must have helped remove them and therefore must have consented.

The ruling caused outrage across Italy and around the world.

In response, the women of the Italian Parliament wore denim to work in solidarity with survivors and to stand against victim blaming. What began as a protest became the international movement now known as Denim Day. 👖

Today Denim Day reminds us: 💙 Clothing is never consent
💙 Survivors are never to blame
💙 Consent must be freely given, informed, and mutual
💙 Education, compassion, accountability, and support matter

To every survivor reading this: You are heard. You are worthy. You are supported. And you are never alone. 💙🩱
