The GACC-CO’s mission is to promote German trade with Colorado by developing community through professional and cultural programs.

As a membership organization, we offer companies and individuals direct access to the German-American business community. Our network provides a valuable platform to meet peers and potential customers, create and maintain business ties and spread the word about your business to a select audience. 𝗔 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸’𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗿 🌳

On October 1, GACC-CO Board Members Markus Thamm and Peter Sehl joined Grace Deibert and Cyan Weinberg at Civic Center Conservancy’s Cocktails in the Park for an evening of connection and a preview of Civic Center Park’s next chapter.

The event brought together local stakeholders, event producers, and community leaders to learn about plans for the park’s transformation. Remarks from the Mayor, Denver Parks and Recreation, and Civic Center Conservancy highlighted the vision for a welcoming space that can host events both big and small.

A hard hat tour offered a closer look at the proposed design, including improved ADA accessibility and innovative approaches to repurposing materials. We enjoyed connecting with others invested in the park’s future and learning how this shared space will continue bringing Denver’s communities together.

Please join us in welcoming Shannon Pelkey to the German American Chamber of Commerce - Colorado Chapter. As Operations Director, Shannon will oversee organizational operations, administrative processes, and internal systems to support the continued growth and development of the Colorado Chapter.

Shannon brings more than 15 years of experience in operations and organizational leadership across education, hospitality, nonprofits, membership organizations, and small businesses. Having spent 15 years in Hawaii before relocating to Colorado in 2022, she has worked with organizations of varying sizes, leading large-scale programs and events, managing teams, and developing the systems and processes needed to support their growth.

In her role, Shannon will work alongside the GACC Colorado team to support its programs, events, and member services. Her work will contribute to the Chapter's continued efforts to connect businesses, develop partnerships, and expand opportunities within the German-American business community.

🇩🇪🇺🇸 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻-𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 — 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟲

America's first German settlement was founded largely by people who were not German.

October 6th marks the founding of Germantown, Pennsylvania, in 1683. Most of the thirteen Quaker and Mennonite families who started it were religious refugees of Dutch origin. German-American identity began as a mixture, and it never really stopped being one.

🤝 That is roughly what it still looks like here. The German-Colorado community is not an enclave — it is German companies hiring Coloradans, Colorado companies selling into Germany, and a lot of people who belong to both.

Anyone can come. You do not need to be a member, and you do not need to speak German fluently. Plenty of regulars are there to practice, and plenty are there for the company.

Tomorrow Germany marks 36 years since reunification, with the only public holiday the whole country shares by federal law.

Every other German public holiday is set by the individual Bundesländer. October 3rd is the exception: one date, sixteen states, the entire country closed.

🤝 The central celebration is a Bürgerfest, and it moves — a different city hosts each year rather than the capital keeping it permanently. For a country that spent forty years divided, that rotation is not an accident.

One small note for anyone scheduling calls next week: Germany does not shift a public holiday that falls on a weekend. This year it lands on a Saturday, so it simply disappears. Your German colleagues will be at their desks on Monday, and maybe a little grumpy about it. 😏

What a beautiful weekend in Snowmass Village celebrating Oktoberfest! With the leaves at their peak and a perfect mountain setting, the event brought together great entertainment, delicious food and b**r, and an unforgettable atmosphere. The Oktoberfest Queen, 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐧 and her Brew Crew, along with
𝐉𝐢𝐦 𝐄𝐡𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐡, had the crowd fully immersed in the festive spirit. Combined with an ideal location and outstanding hospitality, Snowmass Oktoberfest 2026 was truly an occasion to remember.

It was especially meaningful to celebrate alongside delegates from 𝐀𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 and 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐡-𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧, who had gathered in Aspen to commemorate the 60th anniversary of their longstanding partnership.

Celebrating German traditions is about more than food, music, and festivities. It is about strengthening community, fostering connections, and honoring shared heritage, and the GACC-CO was proud to be a partner in this memorable event.

Thank you 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗞𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗿 from 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗮 for stopping by the German American Treffpunkt during Colorado Startup Week to meet with GACC-CO Executive Director 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗵𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗺𝘀 and 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿, our new Director for Commercial and Ecosystem Development. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and learn more about Telura's groundbreaking work in the energy sector.

Earlier this year, Governor Jared Polis and his delegation selected Telura to participate in Colorado Startup Week 2026 during their visit to Munich. As a deep-tech company, Telura is working to make geothermal energy accessible everywhere through next-generation drilling technology.

We are excited to follow the company's journey and look forward to seeing what the future holds for Telura!
