Love this!
Hi all! We’ve been a bit neglectful by not providing any additional info on this page...so here goes!
My name is Geoff. I have two wonderful sons: Niko- 9 years old and Ollie- 5 years old, and the sweetest of dogs- Daphne.
When I founded Common Good Compost 8 years ago, I was still in college studying Environmental Sciences. Wanting to do something good for the environment, I decided to do what I could to keep compostable food waste out of the landfills and convert it nutritional compost. After learning how to compost my own food waste I thought I could help other people compost their household food waste since this type of service didn’t exist in Northern Colorado. I started with a pickup truck and a couple of waste bins and set out to get folks on-board with the process.
What began as one local route has grown to ten routes in Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland, Greeley and surrounding areas.
The single Ford Ranger pickup truck has evolved into a 6-vehicle fleet including three 100% electric vehicles that do the majority of the waste collection.
When state regulations changed and limited the amount of food waste we could compost ourselves we partnered with another business, A1-Organics to process the waste at their large facilities, converting it to compost. With this partnership, we were able to acquire the finished compost to return to our customers while focusing our efforts on collecting the food waste and making the household separation and storage process clean and convenient.
We relocated from Greeley to Fort Collins in 2021 and so far, we have helped over a thousand households divert over one million pounds of food waste from landfills and used it to improve soil health all over northern Colorado.
Are you ready to reduce your environmental impact and put your home’s food waste to good use?
