What a night! Our 2026 Fall Soirée was one for the books. More than 80 of you joined us, and together we more than doubled our evening's fundraising goal to support our Mental Health Access Fund!

We were also honored to present Demetrius “D” Parker with our Distinguished Service Award and Dr. Joel Chapa with our Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you both for your years of dedication to MDCC!

A huge thank-you to our sponsors, Board of Directors, staff, interns, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the evening happen. Whether you celebrated with us in person or cheered us on from afar, we’re so grateful you support MDCC and our mission of mental health access.

We can’t wait to see you at our 2027 Soirée!

Mental health needs don't disappear when insurance coverage does.

The federal cuts to Medicaid under H.R. 1 (aka the "Big Beautiful Bill") will be felt across the country, but here in Colorado they hit close to home. The Colorado Health Institute estimates that new Medicaid requirements and administrative barriers could cause over 100,000 Coloradans to lose health insurance coverage, even though many would otherwise remain eligible.

For people already struggling to get care, that can mean losing the therapist they trust, putting off help until a hard time becomes a crisis, or ending up in an emergency room that was never meant to be their only option.

At Maria Droste Counseling Center, our commitment has not changed: Mental Health, Regardless of Wealth. If someone loses Medicaid, they do not lose their place with us.
But we can't do this alone. As public resources shrink, your support matters more than ever. It helps us fill the gaps and makes sure a lost insurance card never means a lost therapist.

We are incredibly glad to see an important mental health resource return. A few days ago, on September 30, the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline brought back its "Press 3" option, which connects LGBTQ+ youth and young adults in crisis with counselors who are specially trained to support them. The service ended in July 2025, and it's now available again nationwide.

At Maria Droste Counseling Center, we believe people reach out for help when they feel seen, understood, and safe. For LGBTQ+ young people, knowing there's someone on the other end of the line who understands what they may be going through can make all the difference.

We're grateful to the advocates, mental health professionals, organizations, and community members who worked to make this happen.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988. LGBTQ+ youth and young adults can call 988 and press 3 to reach specialized support.

And beyond moments of crisis, we remain committed to providing accessible, affirming mental health care to our community. You are not alone.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline has restored the "Press 3" option connecting LGBTQ+ youth to targeted support services, more than a year after the Trump administration cut off the
